MdC Fougere Skin Reaction

Has anyone had a burning sensation on their cheeks and neck while using this? I had a fantastic first head shave with MdC but then while shaving my face, my cheeks and neck started burning and it was painful.

Has anyone switched to unscented and fixed this issue?

The only way to cure this issue is to send it my way.
It will then go away and you won't have the issue any longer.

God what a cruel world we live in!!'

The lather is perfect. Ultra thick, slick and godly. I wish I could somehow test MdC unscented before throwing down another $70. I just palm lathered fougere and put it on my cheeks and it began to burn.

Man, that is disheartening. :(

Have you tried the scented?

I haven't tried the Fougere, if you don't have a reaction to the scented I have a jar I can possibly trade with you.

I'm realizing a lot of my scented soaps are going me trouble... which I chalked up to poor shaves.

Cella is the first culprit and now Fougere. I'm assuming it's something to do with strong fragrances as I have no trouble with MWF, Cade, Tabac, and Palmolive.

I have a lot of testing to do.

I never noticed this for a year and it's just now coming to my attention. I guess that's the downside to using a different soap everyday with different razors.

I recommend the above for those who are questioning the same. This has been very helpful.

Nice list, you're way too organized.

If I had an unscented Mdc I'd trade you. I have two scented jars.
I remember reading a thread a while back about someone else having a reaction to one of the scented ones, I don't recall if it was the scented version or the fougere, but then had no reaction to the unscented.

The Strop Shoppe scents are pretty strong too, I would think that they might bother you as well. Great soap though. The Barbershoppe is one of my favorites.

I've enjoyed the Barbershoppe so far but who knows. If you thinks organized... Look at my soaps lol:

Yeah, I'm obsessive about it too. I use the same exact tins, the Ikea grundtals, but skip the labels on top. I print off labels on a Brother P-touch label maker and stick them to the sides. I had to pry the magnets off the bottom so that I could then I stack them on my shave shelf in the bathroom closet. I have about as many as you do.

I took the magnets off a couple of them but almost stabbed myself several times in the process. Any tips? It seems like they're held on by some kind of glue.

They are held on with a two sided tape. I tried a several different tools but found the best solution to be the following. I ended up using a couple flat head screwdrivers to get them off. I used a mid to large sized flat head screwdriver and put it on the side of the magnet and gave it a good push, make sure you don't slip with it here and stab something or someone. The goal was to just push the magnet a little which then loosened the tape a bit. This seemed to make it loose enough that I could then get the same or sometimes a slightly smaller screwdriver head under the magnet, once it was under there I just gave the handle a twist and they came off. The first one or two were difficult but then it started to come along easier and much quicker. First one took a couple minutes, toward the end I could pop them off in under 10 seconds.

Awesome. Thank you. Yeah I nearly impaled my hand I was using so much force.

I'll give that a shot.

Yeah, when pushing the magnet, be really careful to hold the tin in a way that if the screwdriver slips or breaks off part of the magnet and keeps going it's not sticking in you or anything you value. You will have to push it pretty hard. The whole goal is to be able to get the second screwdriver under the magnet.

I wonder if your allergy is down to the stearic acid? That's the only thing I can pin on both MdC (fougere) and Cella.

I wonder how you'd react to the other MdC's also. I have scented, so will gladly trade a sample with you, although I should mention I am in the UK.

This man might hit the nail on the head. I got weird itchy, flaky patches from mdc use. I think the base formula is way too high in one of the primary ingredients for me.

Stearic acid yea? Can you confirm which soaps in my collection have that? Pictured above.

I'd do it on my own but an iphone is not ideal for the task. Thanks.
