What's new

may very well be a silly question: how do you get the cream out of the tub?

Needs milk and a bidet!
silly i know but im anxious to try some brands only sold in a tub and how would i go about getting the cream from the tub to the lather bowl? my first thought was just dip some fingers in and grab some. my second thought was dip the brush in the tub but then how would i soak the brush? my third thought was to ask here....

When I bowl lathered I just used a butter knife to dip a little about the size of an almond and drop it in the bowl.

You can use your fingers, or dip and swirl your brush in the tub after it has been soaked, or use a tool such as a popsicle stick.

I just load the brush by going directly to the tub after my brush has soaked in hot water. I swirl my brush on top of the cream until I think it is properly loaded then I take it to my shaving bowl. I add just a small amount of hot water and began to build my lather. If I need more cream then I swirl it in the tub some more.

Be careful what you ask, you might get more than you bargained for. :biggrin1:

I prefer to keep things as simple as I can, so I just gently dip and swirl the tips of the brush into the cream. Each cream may have a different viscosity, so you will have to experiment a bit, but it's not to hard to figure out.

There are so many things to learn about this hobby. I've been at it less than 6 months and love this site because I learn something new almost every time I visit.

i been DE shaving for a year but i just joined here a couple days ago. as you can see from my post count, i've been learning more than i ever have on my own over the past year.

Also, it's customary to perform the German 'rasiercremezeremonie' before the first use of a tub or tube of cream. You'll need to buy the kit, which includes a 3/16" drill bit, a green glove (fingerless, of course), snakeskin earmuffs, and a 9-volt battery. I'll let somebody else explain the rituals and chants.

Do you like ice cream?

We appreciate the economy of a tub, but the ease of a tube...so have both. Buy a couple of the refillable travel tubes and just scoop them full from your tub. I bought several from my local AAA travel store. High quality silicone. One for every different tub I have. Plus I can grab and go when I pack for a business trip.

i like your style. thinking outside the tub.

Never guessed I would say this in a normal conversation but "just stick a finger in it". GOD gave us fingers to use for this kind of stuff. Besides, if you don't use them they'll fall off!

I just use my pinky and work my way around the tub. Then I smear the cream on my brush and later in a bowl. That way I know that if I get a full 'tip of my pinky' of cream its about the right amount. In fact, I've probably been using too little lately.
