Martin Miller's Gin

I've been trying different Gins recently, and this one stand out. Its the best I've tried by a long shot...its extremely smooth and perfectly balanced. Excellent gin...has anyone tried it?

I tried the "Westbourne Strength" version, which is bottled at 45.2% ABV...the standard version apparently uses the same distillate but is bottled at 40% ABV.

Over the past few months I've tried Boodles, Hendricks, Dry Fly, Tanqueray Rangpur and Bombay Sapphire...any suggestions on what I should try next?

You've got some very good ones on your list already. I would suggest you contrast a more classical gin -- like Beefeaters -- with some of the more unique ones you already have like Hendricks and Boodles. I have never even heard of Martin Miller's, but I will keep an eye out for it. Can you tell us a bit more about the flavor profile?

I like the Westbourne Strength a whole, whole lot. It's right up there with Hendrick's for me.

Martin's sounds interesting. Haven't heard about it before this.

I am currently happy with Citadelle (fragrant and balanced) and Plymouth (more traditional, but not boring--Churchill's favorite). Wasn't wild about Tanqueray Ten, but I want to give it another try before writing it off.

BTW, I usually drink these over just a little crushed ice, sometimes with olives.

My palate is not refined enough to identify individual flavors, but this is what the beverage tasting institute said about it on their website:

Clear with a platinum cast. Fragrant, evolving aromas of watermelon, violets, cucumber, lemon cream, delicate herbal juniper and sweet spices follow through on a silky soft entry to a vibrantly fruity full body with lush wave of sweet citrus, violets and spices. A bold, delicious, and high-toned gin for the finest cocktails, both neo and retro.

I've tried Beefeater but its been so long I'd like to try it again...Bluecoat looks very interesting, I'm gonna have to keep an eye out for it.

Ransom is a traditional "Old Tom" style that is sweeter and totally different flavor profile than any London Dry gins; it's actually pretty similar to genever styles. It works fantastically in a Martinez and Tom Collins. I highly reccomend it.

Tried Plymouth last night and enjoyed it quite a bit.

I'll have to look for that one as well...

+1. This is now my go-to. Not sure how hard it is to find in CA though.

Bevmo has it, but the nearest one is ~45 minutes away. The price isn't bad, next time I'm close I'm gonna pick up a bottle:cool:
