Making your own wooden scales

Salutations, B&B community,

I have a piece of wood from my time in the middle east that I would like to have made into scales and/or a brush handle. I feel woefully unequipped, however, to make them myself. I perused the forum looking for an answer to this question but couldn't find one, please forgive me if I overlooked it.
So, does anyone know of a business that can make them for you?

I've researched woodworking places online and near where I live with no promising results so I was hoping somewhere here might know of a place.

Thanks for any help.

How big a piece of wood is it. Most folks that make scales should be able to cut it and either send you the blanks or make the scales for you.

Are you located in the US?
If so it shouldn't be to hard. If you have a WoodCraft store near you, I bet they would do it for a little bit of nothing.
If that doesn't work, your welcome to send it to me and I'll cut them for you.

That's encouraging news, thank you for the replies.

I've searched online for woodcraft places in my area but the only things I found were door/window places or a workshop that you can go and use. I don't feel like I have the expertise to do something like this, however. I'll keep looking though and keep you in mind, MileMarker.

And just in case there are any dendrologists out there, the wood is from a Prosopis cineraria tree.

How did you get that past customs? Any local wood (or in my unfortunate case, and wood that could be local) you are unauthorized to take home with you. I lost a black palm pipe I was working on because it might have been local wood.

I would be glad to slab, book, cut and shape your scales if you would like gratis. Take a look HERE for the scale shape (never mind the fancy ones) and the length and let me know which one looks good to you.

I bet there are a lot of us here that are willing to help, pick your favorite.

I got saved by my own ignorance I suppose. It never even occurred to me that it might be contraband, they were always mentioning statue pieces, dog fur hats, etc.. but I don't remember wood. Either way, I sent it home in a box with some household goods and was lucky enough to have it get through, I guess.

That's a very generous offer, thank you. I'll peruse the list and get in touch with you. I'm going to research blades first, I think, so I have one to match the scales to.
