Love my Tech - should I check out a GEM or Injector

Hiya guys,

The search continues, but so far I am pretty pleased with a lent/gifted vintage old-style Tech. This is after having some pretty bad experiences with my three Merkur razors, so I am thinking mild razors are the way to go for me.

Which brings me to my question: I keep reading about injectors and GEMs, and so am very curious about them. However, I'm wondering how they tend to be on the aggressiveness scale, and if I might end up tearing my face up again by trying something else new.

Also, anyone want to quickly compare the aggressiveness of a '40s SS to the Tech?

You should definitely try both an injector and a GEM/Ever-Ready SE.

Of all my safety razors, the 1912 & 1924 GEM/Ever-Readys give me the best shaves by mile; absolutely stunning !! My GEM Micromatic is also a favourite.

For a swift, effortless shave, my Schick E2 & G1s are hard to beat.

Have a try - you might become a 'Gemocrat/Schickocrat' too

Gem G-Bar is the most 'Tech-like' to me on gentleness factor and my favorite Gem. Just FWIW.

Also, I find my 47 Super Speed very gentle and forgiving like a Tech. There are some variations in Tech gentleness, too (early ones seem a little more aggressive) but I'd say a typical 40s Super Speed is going to be very similar to the Tech, maybe a tad more aggressive. Haven't looked them up on the aggressiveness scale in the shave wiki lately, but that's just my impression.

A 50s Blue Tip SS is very forgiving, too, don't forget that one.

If you love the Tech, I'd also recommend a Gillette New. They're similar but the Tech is a little bit too tame for me. The New isn't aggressive but is much more efficient.

+1, this happened to me the first time I used my Personna injector.

If you are happy with the Tech and want to try another razor, give a Krona a try. I think you would like it a lot. Gentleness of a Tech with the convenience of a TTO. Pretty sweet razor, if you like a non-aggressive razor.

+1.....and Kronas go for bargain prices. As for Injectors, try the later black handle models, and as for Gems, the G-Bar or Contour are the mildest.
AVOID the Micromatic and Ever-Ready 1924 if you're after mild shavers!!
