What's new

Lost my 1936 Aristocrat. Thanks Post Office.

I sent out my razor to a member here ,Toolmaster, to have the bay doors fixed from a little bit of sticking, which he did a great job of doing as he sent me a video of it. Unfortunately, upon going out to the mailbox this morning instead of finding a package WITH something in it I have nothing. :a35:
I understand these things happen but I'm a bit fustrated right now. I'm not as mad as one might think. Just sad for all the time + effort Tolmaster put into this and for me not getting to appreciate his work. I appreciate peoples work often more than the item itself. Like my custom made brushes by several artisians. However, I will say that I've had MORE than my fair share of finds yet, right on the heals of a stolen Sheraton this loss does sting. So if your ever in the Baltimore, MD area antiquing & find one please PM me as I have the case for this. Be glad to buy it from you. LOl....
On a brighter note, tomorrow is the Antique fair in town so maybe I'll find something out there tomorrow to fix the funk I'm in.:a16:

Thanks for reading & listening.

P.S Thanks Albert! Almost...
Folks, always tape the ends & leave an extra address inside the package or on it if possible as double insurance.:) Especially on "high" value items.

Our post office was really bad at mangling mail a few years back.
Every other thing I received in the mail was put into one of those "SORRY WE SUCK SO BAD" envelopes.

For each basic package, I think there is a 100$ cover in case of lost. It won't replace your razor but it may help you to heal of this lost.^^

Anybody know the phone # of the main sort facility in Baltimore MD I'd appreciate it. I'll call them Monday however slim the chances.

I believe you're thinking of UPS.

You'd probably get better service going to your local post office. This is why I offer to pay for insurance for expensive things being sent to me and when I send things to other people. Good luck with things.

My condolences. I never ever leave priority mail boxes un-taped, the same goes for self-adhesive envelopes. Built in adhesives just can't be trusted 100%.

UPS has like $1000 basic coverage I believe.

Och that hurts! That was a beautiful bit of kit, and now some crooked git is probably off to ebay or his local pawn shop.
I'm sorry for your loss, but I'm not surprised either I know too many people who've had tracked mail "vanish" as soon as it hit the USA, insurance is a must!

I tape the hell out of every package that I send out. It's probably a bummer for whoever has to rip through it on the other side, but it does prevent things like this from occurring.

Sorry to hear about the bummer news.

I always wondered about the stickum on those boxes. I always add tape. I will continue doing so. Sorry about your loss. She's a beaut...
