Looking for the right brush.

Hello everyone. I come to this section of the forums for some help. I started off with a "starter kit" that included a Col Conk 247 brush. It was okay at first, but I wanted something of better quality that will last a long time. After doing some research, I ended up ordering a Simpson's Duke 3 in Best badger off of Amazon. It came in today and I was a bit surprised. It's pretty soft, though I'm sure a silvertip would have been softer. The surprise came when I saw how big it was. It seemed to be on the small side. Maybe just because I've only used/seen one brush before. Regardless, I want to order another one! I like the Duke, as its pretty stiff and its size is great for face lathering, but I like to bowl lather as well. I was thinking of using the Duke to face lather, and I will order another for bowl lathering.

On to where I need your help - what do you recommend for bowl lathering? I think a silver tip will do the trick, but what brands? What website? I seem to have a little trouble finding a site that sells a variety of brushes. Every site I've been to seems a bit limited on their brush selection. I feel like the amount of quality brushes on Amazon is limited, though maybe I'm just not looking for the right stuff.

Thanks in advance for the help!

I have a Kent BK8 on the way and everyone I have talked to says it wonderful for bowl lathering and can be face lathered as well. I prefer to bowl lather and this brush is going to be an upgrade from the Simpson Commodore X3 that I had. I hear only good things about this brush. From WCS it goes for $200 but through UK vendors and with the right deal I've seen it for a shade over $100. There is also a BK4 and a BK12 that are smaller and larger than the BK8. Good Luck on your search for a brush.

shavemac DO1 3 band is a great brush 24x52, for face or bowl, or shavemac in best badger will do the trick

West Coast Shaving offers a good selection of shaving brushes (as well as all other types of shaving gear) and is a great place to shop. If you have any more questions, please come back and ask again.

West Coast Shaving does have a great variety all in one place. Thanks for that, I don't know why I forgot about them. Might order a Kent Silvertip next week. My Duke 3 really opened up last night though. I like it a lot more now. I soaked it in dish water and let it sit overnight with lather in it as per the break in tutorial and I got good results. $photo (4).jpg$photo (5).jpg
