Looking for some rum suggestions

I like sweet rums. Preferably aged 12+ years. My favorites are Appleton 12, El Dorado 12 and 15, and Ron Zacapa 23. I also like Appleton Estate for something a little cheaper. With these in mind, what should I try next? I really want want sweet, smooth rum with a little heat. Cheers!

Mount Gay Extra Old is very nice but no age statement that I know about.
Zafra is also nice and aged 21 years. This is the new one from the people who marketed Zacapa.

Smith and Cross, Jamaican from Haus Alpenz, or of you can get it, The Scarlet Ibis which was commissioned by Haus Alpenz for the NY speakeasy style bar "Death and Company." Both of these are exceptional, 'niche' rums if you will, and have nice heat and fruit, and some funky tropical notes. Great stuff

maximilian.

I would love to try 10 Cane, but the LCBO (government run liqour monopoly) doesn't carry it. Mount Gay is on my list for sure! Due to my provinces liqour laws, our selection is limited, and we cannot import anything, and there are many popular brands I cannot get.

Zaya 12 Y. O. from Trinidad is an outstanding aged rum (double gold medal winner @ San Francisco International Spirits Competition 2012).

The Count of Merkur Cristo

B&B's Emperor of Emojis
My favorite rum is Puerto Rican 3 Star Ron del Barralito...awesome in cocktails, on ice or neat.

Have you tried Sailor Jerry? It's very inexpensive, but perhaps one of the best rums I have ever had. I could drink it straight out of the bottle (and I have!).

+1. I find Zaya both sweet and smooth. It's actually too sweet for me but it sounds like what you are looking for.

Did you really just suggest sailor jerry? The last memory I have of sailor jerry, my old college roommate was standing in his underwear in the living room, with a samurai sword plunged into the dry wall in one hand, and a gallon-jug of sailor jerry in the other...just standing there, crying and swaying...

If you can ever get your hands on this Pyrat cask 1623 from Guyana (its like $275 a bottle) do it. It is by far the finest, smoothest rum I've ever encountered.

I just bought a bottle of Zaya at the liquor store tonight and tried it for the first time. NO comparison to Pyrat, like none whatsoever. Pyrat wins hands down. Zaya tastes like straight vanilla or something I'd mix with my coca cola.

have you tried:

Santa Theresa 1796

or

Ron Botran 12yo

both quite nice sippers...maybe finish a little drier than the others, but retain a nice sweetness up front without the cloying mouth feel of the others (I happen to enjoy both the viscous/sweet/"cloy" rums, as well as these)

"Pyrat Xo Reserve is a select blend of fine, 15 year old Caribbean rums. Its smooth taste and delicious flavor is complimented by its rich amber color. Pyrat XO Reserve is excellent of ice with a twist of lemon or as an ingredient in a premium rum drink. I love this rum and it sells for around 30.00....
