Looking for New Smellgood!

Just finished my 6oz bottle of original Polo by Ralph Lauren and I am about to go on a search this weekend for a suitable replacement. I've always loved Polo and had this bottle since 2008. I keep it in my fragrance rotation in which I love the masculine woody type scent that powers it. But since there are many fragrances released since 2008, I'm curious to see if anybody has any recommendations of fragrances that come close to smelling similar to this classic scent. If there is, I want to have the opportunity to at least sample them. Does anybody have any scents they like that smell similar to Polo?

I'm a big fan of Polo although I never wear it. The scent is nostalgic for me as it was the first frag I purchased some 20+ years ago. I'll always have it around.

It's is pretty unique, but if you are looking for some other scents in a similar family, you may check out:

Polo Modern Reserve - Sort of a cleaner, more fresh version of the original. Lacks the leather and tobacco, but maintains the greenness of the original with a fresh touch of jasmine. Said to be marketed toward the sons of younger guys whose fathers wear Polo. It's a good "modernization", but doesn't have anything on the original IMO. It is more similar to the now discontinued Polo Crest if you have tried that one.

Tom Ford Italian Cypress ($$$$) - A lot of people call this the niche version of Polo. I can see some similarities, but this is seriously good juice. Be prepared to pay out the nose for it. It's also often compared to Halston Z-14 which I can see as well.

Caron Yatagan - Said to be a cousin of Polo and I can see the relation, although they don't smell similar to me. It shares the coniferous/woody feeling that Polo does. It can be had for very little. it has its fans among hardcore fragheads, but outside of us, I can't see it being very marketable. It's very dry and herbal.

I went into Macys store not long ago..went room the mens department..they had every Polo bottle lined up...they all smelled nearly identical..difference was really in packaging....

Thanks Tim....I'll have to keep my eye out for those....I'll curious about that Tom Ford Italian Cypress & Caron Yatagan!

I'll agree that TF IC and Caron Yatagan would be good scents to explore. They take some ideas from Polo Green and push them. IC has more of a citrus vibe to me. Yatagan is desert herbs. Another I'd suggest is L'Artisan Fou d'Absinthe which presents itself to me as a smoother, more refined take on the Polo Green idea
