Looking for my first scuttle!

Been wet shaving for awhile using various creams and dare I say gels. In college I used a bowl to make a lather, since then I've made the lather on my face with a brush but I'd like to return to bowl lather.

I've heard of these scuttle devices and would like to purchase my first one. Since the benefit is hot/warm lather I'd be interested in one that will retain heat for a long time and be a nice fit for my brush:

Vulfix #2234 Super Badger
Brush stands 100mm tall overall, bristle loft is 50mm. 22mm diameter bristle knot.

Any recommendations from the long time scuttle users?

I primarily face lather but bowl lather on occasion. I have a Robert Becker scuttle that I am very pleased with. It is a very good scuttle with excellent heat transfer qualities that keeps my lather warm between passes. He is an excellent vendor that communicates well and provides great service. In my view, this scuttle is an excellent value.

Cheers,

Doug

+1 on Robert Becker. I would suggest a medium as the large is really overkill for a smaller brush. Hell the size large even swallowed up my 28mm PCWoodcrafts brush. Robert is great to work with, has some lovely finishes, and they hold heat as good as the expensive scuttles. If you prefer a hand made look this is your scuttle. They are well made, but you can tell someone actually got their hands dirty making one.

Dirty Bird also makes some nice scuttles. Size 1 is a little on the small size, and size 1.5 is a little big. I have a 1.5 but if I was to order again I might go with the size 1. These are about twice what you pay for a Robert Becker, but they hare heavier and more consistently shaped. The DB's could be made by mold if there was not slight differences in one to the next, but the quality is top notch. You cant see any rough edges or the typical hand made irregularities in them.
