Long handled razor

Hi All:

I'm looking for a DE razor for my wife. I'm told that women benefit from longer handled razors for shaving their legs; the Lady Gillette seems to have a relatively long handle. I don't have enough posts to put a WTB request in for a Lady Gillette in the Sell and Trade forum for a Lady Gillette but I'm pretty sure that one may not be the only option but I don't know what else to look for.

First of all, can any confirm/deny my understanding that women benefit from longer handled razors? Secondly, can any recommend any suitable alternatives to the Lady Gillette, doesn't have to be TTO?

Leg shaving on the wiki has some tips on razor choice. Apparently the answer is YMMV, but leaning toward mild razors.

If you are set on a long handle, there are quite a few options. I think the main reasons to choose a Lady would be aesthetic: the decoration and the available colors. Otherwise a Super-109 (long-handled Super Adjustable) would be almost as long, and the Slim adjustable would be a reasonable choice too. The non-adjustable Slim Twist and Knack also have long handles. I think Gillette designed some of these models to be unisex. Many modern razors have longer handles, possibly for the same reason.

Maybe offer a test shave or three with your mildest razor, and see how the handle length works out?

Parker has a look alike available.

Other women's razors were miniature.

I think everyone has their own preference.

If switching from a cartridge razor though, a longer handle will make the transition easier in my opinion.
