L'Occitane & Cade Soap, I am not happy!

The CADE shave soap I ordered from L'Occitane has to be the worst I have ever encountered. It is dry as a fart and unstable. Its completely broken down and dry after doing one cheek. Please spare me the "You don't know what your doing "BS" as the only difference here is the Cade soap and not my brush work.

I also ordered a soap dish from L'Occitane and it was broken when it arrived.

I also asked to have a gift box included For the soap dish and soap I bought for my wife. The gift box was also broken. L'Occitane is trying to give the illusion of being a high end Boutique. They are not and I highly recommend everyone look elsewhere when shopping.

The Shipping box had one slightly crushed corner. Nothing un-common. This means the people in the L'Occitane shipping department improperly packaged items I PAID FOR!!! and or shipped damaged items to a PAYING CUSTOMER.

My Wife likes the sample L'Occitane sent us. She will not be getting it as they have completely destroyed any possibility of myself or my Wife being L'Occitane customers.

The website is completely inept. If I choose "List All" and "Price - Highest to Lowest" to sort items on a product page those settings are lost as soon as I have looked at a single item page.

I believe L'Occitane is aware of these problems and they have chosen to do nothing about them. Apathy + Ineptitude = THEY WASTED MY TIME!!!

L'Occitane shaving soap is not my favorite soap, but I found it to be a pretty solid performer. I love the scent, too. Most people seem to like the soap quite a bit. I'm sorry your experience was so negative.

As far as your comment in your post that you want people to:
Please spare me the "You don't know what your doing "BS" as the only difference here is the Cade soap and not my brush work
take it down a notch. I know you're upset, but there's no need to get angry or swear at your fellow board members. Starting out your post by attacking members of B&B before anyone even responds does not engender much sympathy. You did not like this soap or your experience with L'Occitane. That's fine -- YMMV and all that.

As far as the other issues, have you contacted L'Occitane customer service? I'm interested to hear how they handle the problems that you listed -- that is what customer service means to me. I hope you can find a happy resolution to this problem with the broken items.

Mmmmm...

Guess this is very much a YMMV thing.

This soap is probably my favourite hard soap and, for me at least, the lather is outstanding, better than most of my tallow soaps.

The only criticism I have is that the bowl is too expensive. This has never been a problem for me because I've never bought the bowl.

Oh well. Try not to let soap ruin your day.

I find Cade to be a mediocre performer myself. When you say the soap dish broke, are you talking about the METAL dish that the soap comes in? That would take some doing!

It is dry as a fart and unstable.

I'm going to use this sentence to describe pretty much everything I don't like from now on. How's the steak? Dry as a fart and unstable. Do you like Chevys? They're dry as farts and unstable. What's your take on that Mike fellow? etc.

I will have to remember to ask you how you like Chevy's sometime,,,!!!

It was a porcelin soap dish that broke.

I'm just stunned at all the praise the Cade soap gets. It smells great till I slap on some thayers. Without the scent it may as well be on sale at Caswell Massey. I have Pre de Provence, Tobs Sandalwood, and T&H. They all work with out flaw. I will give it another go but I'm not expecting miracles.

I'm not really interested in sympathy. What I do want is for a few people to read this thread and move on to a better product. This particular soap gets waaaaaay too much good press around here. General consensus doesn't = correct.

Sorry to come across like that, Don't read too much into it. I'm one of those people who will blurt out whatever is on my mind and the gift box and dish were for my wife. That pissed me royal. I like surprising her from time to time and L'Occitane ruined that.

As far as how they handle this, I don't much care because it was a series of errors and that means poor management. I rather just shop where service is important beginning to end. Cuttin corners and covering it up later is all too common these days.

I must say that your commentary in this thread has been on the wrong side of gentlemanly.

Ouch is correct. You should have used the 10 minute rule before posting.
Type it down in notepad, then wait 10 minutes and come back and read it
as if it you are a person who is not close to the situation would be reading it.
Then rewrite accordingly.

I must agree about the soap is a little bit too overrated and i never get the results read here about good quality and so on...:thumbdown not to mention the price of it or the little metal dish!! For that price you can buy 2 or 3 MWF or OSMA

That said you should report the case to them...Got incensed weaks your discernment and your point of view.Stay cool :001_cool: and act like a badger: it bites and never let it go!! Do the same here, nothing personal just biz as usual to them, you're one more on the line...

Love the cedar smell and the lather that CADE produces. I intend to keep it in my rotation.
As for the bowl, is expensive but I ever bought it anyway.

Porcelain bowl? The CADE bowl is a metal bowl... at least here in Europe.

I have noticed recently that Cade has really become a YMMV product around here.
I have never had any problems all the years I have been using it.
For me it has been a great performer and the scent is top notch.
It will continue to be soap that I look forward to in my rotation.

Yeah, metal bowl in Australia too. I wonder, if there are different bowls could there be different soaps?

I like Cade soap and find it to be one of the best values around for what you get.

I call user error. Give it another shot with more water than you're used to.

Since you have not gave them a change to make it right. Stop hollaring and call them and give them a sporting chance. The shipping company you used might be the gulity party.

Sincerly a Old man of the South.

+1. Things getting damaged in transit, well, it's unfortunate, but it does happen. Maybe it's extremely rare, but if you happen to be the unlucky one that it happens to, then you might feel like L'Occitane is a poor and unreliable company, but that doesn't make it so. What will be a true reflection on their customer service is how they will choose to handle it when you tell them about the condition of the items you received. If they apologize profusely, send you new unbroken versions of the items you ordered, and throw in a couple things free of charge, then you might feel a little silly for badmouthing them here.
