Lea & Bea Shave Sticks

I'd love to hear some feedback from some folks who have used these.

they're inexpensive and available at www.shaveabuck.com.

How are the scents, slickness & cushion?

does anyone have the ingrediant list to post?

I have, and like the LEA. From what I understand the BEA is the same stuff but with less fragrance. The LEA has a nice clean scent, kind of a lemon scent, but not overpowering or lasting. Shaves great, and comes in a nice little holder much like LaToja (also from Spain) As far as ingredients go, well here they are:

Sodium Palmate, Potassium Stearate, Sodium Cocoate, Sodium Stearate, Aqua, Potassium Cocoate, Glycerin, Parfum, Sodium Chloride, Titanium Dioxide, Tetrasodium EDTA, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Geraniol

YMMV

I've used the LEA stick. It's a veg based stick and has a slightly floral soapy scent similar to the LEA cream. I'm not a pro at using shave sticks but from what I remember the performance was pretty good, and about on par with the La Toja shave stick. No lathering problems at all.

I also have the Bea stick which is very similar except the packaging isn't as nice as the LEA stick and it smells like Tide powder laundry detergent...not as nice of a scent as the LEA.

Personally, I would just buy one of each as I don't think you can go wrong for the price. I'd also highly recommend the LEA regular shave cream as I think it's superb and has moved to one of my top 3 shave creams recently.

LEA Shave Stick

LEA, Spain. $2.99/50gr

Produced by Lascaray S.A. of Spain.

Obtained from Shaveabuck.com This is a veggie stick.

Ingredients: Sodium Palmitate, Potassium Stearate, Sodium Cocoate, Sodium Stearate, Aqua (Water), Potassium Cocoate, Glycerine, Parfum, Sodium Chloride, Titanium Dioxide, TetraSodium EDTA, TetraSodium Etidronate, Geraniol.

Nice white plastic base and clear, vented plastic cover for travel. Stick was naked, and I ended up wrapping the lower 1.5" or so with foil for ease of handling when in use.

Similar to the BEA stick listed below. The LEA, produces a richer lather, but otherwise the comments below apply.

BEA, Spain. $1.99/50gr
Obtained from Shaveabuck.com This is a veggie stick.

Ingredients: Potassium Stearate, Sodium Stearate, Potassium Palmitate, Sodium Palmitate, Potassium Cocoate, Sodium Cocoate, Aqua (Water), Glycerine, Parfum, Citronellol, Benzyl Salicylate, Linallol, Geraniol, Hidroxyisohexyl 3-Cyclohexene, Carboxaldehyde, Coumarin, Alpha-isomethyl lonome, CI77891 (Titanium Dioxide).

Produced by Lascaray S.A. of Spain.

Product format was a naked stick set on a white plastic base, no cover. The base is identical to the base used on it's cousin, the LEA stick, and works with the plastic cover supplied with the LEA stick. As above, the stick was naked, and I ended up wrapping the lower 1.5" or so with foil for ease of handling when in use.

I really didn't notice any 'fragrance' at all. The stick is relatively hard and didn't deposit soap as readily as many of the sticks I've used and tested. With extra passes of the stick over the beard I got a good amount of soap on the whiskers. The soap readily created a lather, and with a couple minutes of mixing obtained a good lather.

BEA did a good job of softening the whiskers, and lubed face well. Lather had started to dry a little bit by the end of a pass, but seemed to tolerate the heat of a scuttle relatively well. Razor glide/lubrication was good but diminished as the lather started to dry.

Ease of lather is OK. Lubrication is OK. Not bad. Not great. Just OK. Fragrance is OK. Lather density is OK. And so on.

This product stands out because it isn't a stand out. As a low cost product, it's not a bad product and will give a good shave. But there's no compelling reason to seek it out, either.

Worth a couple of bucks.
