Le Grelot 1/4 - RasurPur

I received my 1/4 grind Le Grelot from Martin yesterday. It arrived 7 days after I ordered it. It is lovely, as many have stated before. I got the satin polish with white plastic scales.
I primarily wish to say that Martin was terrific to deal with, and the razor arrived very sharp. I am still pretty green, but I got a great, comfortable shave with the razor. I highly recommend the Le Grelot, and Martin at RasurPur.

I was very close to pull the trigger on one of those Grelots from Martin, they look great and agree 100% with Martin service, he is a top bloke!

Martin sent my first str8 this monday, and it still hasn't arrived, even though I'm just in the neighbouring country. I thought this weekend would include my first str8 shave, but no, the German and Danish postal service wouldn't want it that way. :frown:

I bought one off of Martin a bit ago. There was a problem with the post, not at all his fault, but he was responsive throughout the difficulty. Top notch guy.

The razor? Sweet. No other words. You know that if you don't buy one now, when you do, they'll be gone. Just pull the trigger. You know you want to.

I'm really considering pulling the trigger on one of these.

Help push me over the edge.

How or why is this razor superior to similarly priced razors?

Here are a few points that quickly come to mind:
  • Incredibly smooth shave
  • 1/4 Grind is great compromise between full hollow & wedge
  • 6/8 is a nice size for daily use
  • Blade has nice weight, feels good in the hand
  • They are in limited supply
  • They come in polished and satin so you can have two
  • Did I mention the outstanding shaves

+1, Great list D.H.!

it's hard to articulate how vastly superior bullet point #1 is.

Exactly, plus may I add that the shoulderless design plus that little spike comming off the thumbnotch gives it a cool, unique and wicked look.

I will say, I was a bit disappointed that the current ones with the plastic scales don't have the little spike off the thumbnotch (at least, mine doesn't). I thought that was a great design. Mine has a very comfortable notch, and is a nice design, but it sure looks a little more neighborly than the razors with the spiked thumbnotch.

There are no other brandy-new available heavy grind razors available that I know of. There are 100 different full hollows to choose from, but they just don't make beefy grinds any more. You can buy a wedgey blade from Ebay easy enough, but it will require hours of elbow grease to get it up to speed. The 1/4 grind comes shiny and new. It also will shave you with a completely differently feel than your full hollows, really a vert different shave experience. If honed correctly, it can give you one of the closest and most comfortable shaves out there.

And it has a thumbnotch. Do I really need to say anymore?:w00t:

I ordered the razor late last night. I'm anxious for it to arrive.

Thanks for all the input on why these razors are a must have.
