I pulled the plug on a 30mm silvertip knot in a restored wooden barber handle. For $40 it is a little over the price of the knot alone, finding such a handle in good shape is not easy not to mention all the work de-knotting it.... in a word: a steal!
It appears he's been getting more and more busy - I've had nothing but wonderful dealings with Larry, if he's slow in getting back to you, there is likely a good reason.
It does seem like Larry is getting busier adding scuttles and vintage handles to his lineup. The vintage-handled brushes look pretty great, and for $28 with 20mm silvertip knots, those things ARE a steal. You're not going to get close to that buying similar handles on ebay, and you'll save yourself a lot of trouble getting one from Larry.
I've done my own restorations on a couple of everready's with 20mm silvertip knots, and they are great brushes. Since I'm still a rank beginner at restoration, I can only assume that Larry does a better job, and what he charges is almost the same as what it cost me to do my own, once you factor in shipping.
I just sent his this email: They look great, and are certainly priced right, however, they appear to have a higher loft than I like. If you offered the brushes and knots NOT glued together I would probably buy a few.
