Has anyone here tried using lanolin cream (its almost like a wax, but a hard cream) as an aftershave? Will it moisturize or should I stick with a balm?
I have not used lanolin, but I regularly use a cold cream of some kind. Since they're quick thick, I add a few drops of Thayer's or alcohol-based AS to thin it down to a more balm-like consistency. With a waxy hard cream as you describe I doubt it would work, but it sounds simple enough to try.
I have anew tub of Mitchell's Wool Fat Lanolin cream. I'll test it by cold water rinse, followed by alum, cold water rinse, MWF lanolin, then Coral skinfood.
I have tried The Shave Den's Pre Shave Balm and used it once as an aftershave balm. The lanolin gives off a strong odor, unless you get the one with menthol added. Ingredients are Shea Butter,Lanolin, Jojoba oil,, avocado oil, sweet almond oil, fragrance and vitamin E. Its says to wash off with soap. It will still leave soft moisturized skin after washing off and doesn't leave that strong odor of the lanolin.
