Lane Kiffin new head coach at USC

Just heard that Lane Kiffin will be leaving Tennessee to take over for Pete Carroll. This should be interesting. He pushed the recruiting boundaries at Tennessee and now he's going to a program that's under a microscope.

I hope he is better with the media there than he was at UT. He never connected with the university or the town in Knoxville. He just finished his press conference in Knoxville in which he did not allow the media to have cameras, it lasted one minute. The local tv stations were provided tape of the conference by Kiffin himself, according to WBIR. I heard he didn't like the cold in which he has plenty, the way he handled the camera with the local news left a lot to be desired from what I seen over the last season. UT has a ton of work to do and it will take years to recover the recruiting they will lose. It is reported that the eight recruits in Knoxville ready to start class announced they will not report, but things have to be taken lightly as far as reporting goes at this point.

Well, I guess this just makes things look 100x worse for USC. Hiring a coach who has had multiple NCAA violations while the university is under investigations for violating NCAA rules is like crossing the border at night wearing a suit made of flashing lights.


Honestly, I just hope to see both USC football and Kiffin collapse into nothingness. They have been bad for college football for the past few years now and it would be justice if they dig a pit that can't be climbed out of.

With sanctions looming at USC, they hire Kiffin who in his short tenure at UT had several, albeit minor, NCAA infractions? I now wonder how quickly they will be able to redeem legitimate, fair practices. But at least his wife looks the part of a USC trophy wife...

Knox is only the middle name. Assuming Kiffin's as shallow as he seems, he probably chose Knox because Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt named their son Knox 6 months earlier and it's trendy.

His father was and still is a class act. Unfortunately, Lane is far less in my opinion based on his actions at UT.

I learned a long time ago, if you play with snakes, you should expect to get bit. Should any of us at Tennessee be surprised at what happened? The "Lane Train" has turned into a train wreck. I told everyone all along that his hire, and his tenure at Tennessee, would never end well. We were used to devotion, integrity, commitment, class, and dignity with our previous coaches. With Kiffin it was just a job, until something he liked better came along.

Good riddance.

I went back and reread Al Davis's comments when he fired Lane. That old man is not as senial as I thought he was. He was dead right about that guy. "Born on third base and acts like he hit a tripple" is the most appropriate quote I have heard yet. Good luck USC with your NCAA ruling and your snake!

What is EXTREMELY funny is that layne and ogre committed the violations that usc is going to be penalized for.
Yet now they are back!
