Knize Ten Shave Soap

I posted a little while ago saying that I had spotted this soap in a small store in town here and asked for opinions. This morning I tried the soap for the first time and was pleasantly surprised! After being told that the current version of the soap is not as good as the older (tallow) version, I didn't have terribly high hopes but the soap lathers well, has a nice (if subdued) scent and provided for a good shave.
The untreated wooden bowl cracked at the lip during my first shave, but hopefully the magic will stick around long enough for me to finish off the puck :001_cool:

I posted a thread a while back asking for people to give their thoughts on it and most said the lather was thin, at least compared to tallow soaps. What do you think?

Hi Matthew. My first thoughts are that the soap is a good performer. I certainly didn't expect it to be like a Tabac or an MWF but for a veg soap it was impressive. After having spent November shaving with L'Occitane's Cade soap, I would suggest that this one does as good a job.

I have had a puck of the Knize Ten soap for some time now but I have only used it 2 or 3 times. It seems to lather just like any other soap but I was disappointed that it does not have a stronger scent.I assumed that since the Knize Ten EDT has a strong scent, the soap would follow suit but it is quit subdued.

I bought myself one for Christmas and it performs very good. Sure, it is not a tallow soap, but it is as good as the few veggies soaps I have from Trumpers, Cade or Gentlemans Best. The scent is there, but not very strong, nice though and it smells quite like the colognes or the after shave.
It will stay in my collection. The bowl is made from Beech wood, just like the bowl from D.R. Harris or Kent, but it is not finished. First thing I did I applied some Minwax Wipe-on finish and hope it holds up.

Enjoy Rudy! It certainly is a nice soap- and when paired with the EdT-

Fine Accoutrements - Latigo is a good performer and has a reasonably strong scent. Patterned after Knize 10, it may offer some a stronger scent experience during the shave, and it sounds like a nicer lather too. It's one that's only in the new croap base.
