Key Ring Thing

I stumbled on to this as part of another thread, and decided to order one for myself. Let me tell you for $5 it is worth every penny. I used to keep all of those key ring cards on a seperate ring, that I kept in the console of my car. Half the time I wold forget the thing and have to go out and get it or just not worry about it.

With this you get 6 key ring cards on 1 custom credit card size card. I have had no problems anytime I used it.

I told my parents about it, and they got 2 identical cards, one for each. Mom is happy since now she does not have to figure out who had the free milk offer etc. Since both of them now use the same number.

If you hate carrying all those club cards on your key ring you guys really ought to heck these things out.

Excellent idea. I'm going to print a free version with all of my loyalty cards first, and verify that they all work, and then order cards for my wife and I. Conveniently, I have six cards that I use.

Coolness! Although I do not keep my cards on my keychain (tacky IMO,) I keep several cards in my wallet, and I am afraid of losing a card or two due to having so many bunched up.

I got rid of all those supermarket cards years ago and have cut down my junk mail by about 90%. Always used to spell my name slightly differently on each so I knew who was selling my details!

trouble is, I don't get enough junk mail now for my other hobby of sending one company's junk mail to another in the pre paid envelopes.

Little thing make life worthwhile.

Nobody ever said you have to give them the correct information to get the card.

Kroger thinks I am a 75 year old asian lady who lives in a town of 500 people in Missouri. Her buying patterns must really have the marketing folks scratching their head.

trouble is, I don't get enough junk mail now for my other hobby of sending one company's junk mail to another in the pre paid envelopes.

I love doing that

KeyRingThing does looks like an improvement over carrying separate loyalty cards. But I do detest those cards, I don't want the grocery store to track over time what brand of cereal or potato chips that I buy, and send me adverts on similar items, just to get some artificial savings. Instead the bulk of my shopping is done at places which do not have loyalty programs.

Does anyone know more about the economics behind these loyalty/value cards? Grocery stores typically have very low margins and so collecting and resaleing this information to manufactures must have some value. But not the wide price spread they typically charge you for not using their card. The spread is so wide at some stores (Harris Teeter comes to mind) that the card seems to be less of a tool to get customer excited about a real sale price, and more about getting 100% compliance.

I would guess most stores make a pretty good amount off selling their customer data. As I said in the previous post, just make up some info so I don't get the junk mail, None of the stores around here pay their employees enough to care if you gave them the correct info so they don't check.
