What's new

Just shaved with a Seraphim edge - WOW

Seraphim's digital edge . . . unbelievably sharp.

I recently bought a restored Friodur from Seraphim and after over a week of staring at its wicked point, I decided to put it to work. I've got to say how amazing the shave was with this razor . . . and the point worked just fine. The re-grind, scale quality and fit and finish are even more impressive up close.

Keep up the good work - your efforts to achieve perfection are much appreciated and your products are top-shelf.

Sincere Thanks,
Happy Seraphim Customer

Jesus the point on that Friodur scares the crap out of me. Be careful with that thing! I'm going to stick to safer points for a couple more years before I get a notch or anything scary like this guy hehe.

I bought a razor that wasn't shave ready and I asked him to hone it for me. It's one heck of a sharp blade that's for sure :thumbup1:

Thanks guys!

As far as the point is concerned-I always mute the very tip of the cutting edge. By doing so, even a point with a crazy evil looking outline will be as docile as a roundpoint. I'm no fan of spike tips, I like to enjoy my shave, not fear it!

Now I'm wishing I kept that one!:w00t:

So, how did you do it, and was there anything unique to the Friodur?

I mute the point be simply drawing the spike tip against the 1200 hone to round it off a touch.

No special honing was required of the Friodur, it honed up as nice as a GD...:001_cool:

Well it was as gentle as a round point . . . a couple of questions about your honing process . . . after you set the bevel (on a 1200 stone I assume based on your previous post), what hones / lapping films do you use? Also, how do you use lapping film? What type of surface do you use it on, etc?

Do a search for "lapping film ", as there is plenty of how-to info already out there. I use a precision granite plate as my base, then after my well broken in DMT1200, I use 3um, then 1um lapping films, then 0.5um diamond/chromox mix on a hanging canvas strop
