What's new

Just saw a Nissan GTR. What is your favorite sports car?

I'm currently living in Urbana, MD (near Frederick) and I was grocery shopping when I saw a brand new Nissan GTR. Talked to the guy who was driving it and he was product testing it. The GTR is not my favorite sports car by any means, but I was shocked to see one in the US.

What're your favorite sports cars?

My favorite is the Aston Martin DBS. Drool :001_tt1:

Too many to name and every time I watch Top Gear I always seem to add 1-2 to my list. My first car was a 1984 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE. Sweet car, fun to drive. The new Ferrari 458 Italia is Ferrari upping their design game a click or two - fine looking automobile even if it is not released yet.

I'd be happy!

2010 Ford F150 SuperCrew 4x4...

Sorry. I'm a country boy. Trucks are where it's at for me...

:lol::lol::lol::

I have an F150 (in the states) and man do I miss that truck!

When I get back I plan on getting a GT500 (KR if I can convince the wife to let me spring the extra cheese).

Wow, this is a tough one. As far as muscle cars go, I'd probably take a new Camaro. For true sports cars, a Ferrari 430 would be quite nice. A more realistic and practical option would be an M3 or Porsche Panamera. This like asking me to pick my favorite gorgeous woman(all of them).

I'm not a Camaro hater by any means, but the new design looks like a blatant Mustang/Charger rip off.

I had a Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE, too. Must have been about an '84. Was a nice car. Too bad Mazda for the RX-7s and Nissan as to the Z cars seemed to lose their ways. The GTR seems to give Nissan its groove back.

The 458 looks like a beast. There are sports cars and there are sports cars!

"Japanese" and "sports car" go together like "microwave" and "gourmet".

Sorry, I don't care how it performs or how much it costs, if it's Japanese no-one will take you seriously. Well, maybe a few doof doof drifting types might, but come on...

The Americans make some good muscle cars as do us Aussies [Monaro, GTHO anyone?]

But if you're really talking the true essense of "sports car" it has to be European - and then the really hard question comes: Italian or German?

A lack of snob appeal doesn't make a car any less. It doesn't matter whether anyone takes you seriously or not if you are outperforming them, for less money. That being said, Germany and Italy are still what comes to mind when I think of a pure sports car. The Corvette is pretty much the only real American sports car, and it still sported leaf springs until recently. We are still all about the muscle.

I can see the similarities. The concept was pretty old, though. I can't remember the first year I saw it, but it was before the retro-wave started. I almost got a Mustang GT. It's still the cheapest way to go to get into a powerful V8. The Camaro has always outgunned it. But the new 'Stang has the edge in handling. The Camaro is a bit of an understeering pig.

I saw a GTR outside our Chinese carryout a couple months ago. Neat looking car. I like lots of things that go fast but if I had to choose one it would probably come from Ferrari. Can't get any more specific than that though.

I'd buy that.
