What's new

Just received my Mystic Water samples. Junk.

I'm totally kidding...

The second I took them out of the mailbox I could smell them through the package. The wife and I examined each sample and I was just blown away with the fragrance. I haven't had a chance to try them yet but will soon. My wifet wants me to order some bath soap samples now. My samples were:

Marrakesh-different but wonderful. A smell I could get away with in the office. Almost a distinguished aroma.

Irish Traveller - holly hell. Great smell, kind of like a light summer time cologne. Great shave soap for a night out with the wife, when I know she will be close enough to enjoy it.

Viola di Bosco - another excellent aroma. Very clean, reminds me of fresh linens. Another great smell I could get away with in the office. It's a fragrance you would love after a long day of busting your butt, sweating, just flat out get it done, only to wash it all away with a long shower, and replace it with a fresh shave, with a renewing scent.

Lilly of the Valley - a wonderful flower scent. Very clean, unisex fragrance. Smells so fresh, as you were rubbing the actual flower on your face. My wife got a kick out of this one because the same flower was used in her favorite show “Breaking Bad”. Although the use was not for shaving....

MySore Sandlewood - i have no words to describe this one. I just flat out don't know how to. It's my least favorite out of the bunchbut still a great scent.

Adirondack Jack - this reminded me of a late fall, early winter. The smell of Creme Brule with a cinnamon accent as well. It reminds me of my parents house, with fall smells and pumpkin pie. Almost like walking into Cracker Barrell in Gatlinburg and smelling the sugar cookie Yankee candles and other warm country smells.

I can't wait to shave with these. A huge thanks to Michelle, who put my order in the same day I ordered them.

Sorry if my explanations sucked, this was the first time I've ever tried explaining shave soaps. Lol I had a hard time trying to find the right words. The Adirondack Jack really took me back, into my favorite season of the year, and brought to life some wonderful memories. Again, thank you!!

Remember to press them down into a bowl and load for a good minute.

+1. The samples have considerably less surface area than a full puck, so a loading time of at least a full minute will help to ensure that you have enough product on your brush to experience Mystic Water's full potential.

Lads, I'm telling you that Viola di Bosco is my next Mystic scent. I was going to get lilac but this is too tempting.

Cheers, Todd

Thanks for the descriptions! I got a set of six this week, but from the bright end of her spectrum, so it's great to hear some impressions of the spicy end.

Great joke title jricks31!

I saw it, and thought, "No way! Everyone I know that's tried it, loves Mystic Waters." :)

I've been meaning to try Mystic Waters (it's on my wish list), but I need to finish up my current Shaving Cream first (almost done with it!).

IMightBeWrong

Loves a smelly brush
You say the Sandalwood was your least favorite. Does it differ from normal Sandalwood scents somehow? Do you not usually care much for Sandalwood in general? I ask because I LOVE Sandalwood and I was going to order that exact soap in the next few days.

Strange as it may seem, every MW scent I've used is my favorite scent

Lily of the Valley
Prospect Creek (peppermint)
Rosalimone (rose & lemon)
Mysore Sandalwood

Absolutely phenomenal scents and each scented at just the right level.

I'm currently killing off my Mysore Sandalwood and am struggling to decide which one to dig into next.

I've only smelled 4 sandalwood scents, but MW Sandalwood is my favorite. Others have been TOBS, T&H, and GFT. It's not a sharp scent like TOBS, but more of a well rounded scent. One you can inhale deeply.

If you're a sandalwood fan, you'll have no problems with MW's.

Are Mystic Waters' soaps tallow-based? If so, how do they stand next to Mike's Naturals? (I apparently can't go the glycerin route - the heavy fragrance oils in Mama Bear's soaps burn my face)

They are tallow soaps.
As far as he comparison with Mikes, it depends on whom you ask. Both are excellent products. I prefer Mystic Waters, but others prefer Mike's. you'll have to try them both and see which is better for you.

I find MW easier to make fantastic lather with, but after figuring out Mikes, I can make great lather with it too. They're both worth trying and both are great soaps. I lean towards MW, but not by a large margin.

Man, you guys are killing me with all the great scents. I have been "ordered" to not use anything with scents on my sensitive skin. I do have MW Sensitive Skin which is excellent.

I just ordered a sample pack of Irish Traveller, Lily of the Valley and Orange Vanilla. I'm really hoping they come soon so I can get a good lather out of them and then move on to see what full size puck ill end up with.
