What's new

Just got my Nocturne

Came in the mail, along with a tin of Vetiver, Heather, & Clary sage, and a sample of Cheshire.

Not sure what I think about Nocturne. I think the smell is definitely evocative of fall, but I'm not sure how I like it in a soap (I feel kind of the same way about QCS Basilica. Wow, this smells just like an old church. But wait, do I want to smell like that?) We'll see. Will be a great shave either way.

I'm glad they sent the Cheshire. I'm not a patchouli fan, but this one smells great. I'll for sure buy a puck later.

Strangely, the best smell was the packaging/invoice, which has a sort of rootbeer/floral scent to it. I'm not sure what the heck it is. Could be the blend of all 3 soaps, although the sample was in a baggie and the other two are in tins.

I have been wanting to try out some B&M based on the multiple positive reviews around here so I ordered a puck of Nocturne and Bay Rum (before the 2013 GRUC deadline). It's still in transit but I am looking forward to give them a whirl (or swirl).

I only have solstice, but if forced to shave with only one sape for a long time, it would be one of my top contenders for that spot.

How apply/cinnamony is it?

There is a definite apple component to it if you put your nose on the puck, but further out, it is more of a general sweetness. Not cloying, but a sweet note. I don't get cinnamon at all, but it is probably in there someplace. It doesn't smell like apple crisp or anything, it is a much woodsier scent.
