What's new

Just disassembled and successfully repaired an Executive Fatboy - How gratifying!

I thought it was a goner. After many hot dish water soaks and mineral oil lubes, the dial just wouldn't budge. I followed the youtube video instructions for disassembly and totally fixed it. I've done minor repairs on razors before, but this was my first disassembly. This razor is going to ebay as I already have a very nice Executive of my own, but still. What an awesome feeling.

I guess this thread is just to encourage any of you who are apprehensive about doing this sort of thing. It wasn't that hard, and it changed a paperweight into a fully functional razor again!

Not yet. I need to give it a gentle polish before I photograph it and put it on the bay. It's not pristine though. Very minimal paint loss and a decent amount of plate loss on the silo doors. Everything else is still shiny and gold though.

Congrats!

I bid and won one that I couldn't figure out how I won.

After my blood alcohol ratio cleared the next day I actually read the description.

The dial adjusts. No clicks. Way past one and nine in both direction.

It's beautiful though.

I've been afraid to tinker with it.

It is in my to-do box.

So nice to hear when someone tackles a problem and bests it!

That's a spring problem, right? I bet it's totally repairable. What year is yours?

D-3

I hope it's not the spring.

Some day I am going to try to repair it.

I've taken a fatboy apart 1/4 and then chickened out.

One time I was trying to fix my glasses and my carpet ate about a half dozen of them little screws that hold the frames together before I could get it right.

Sometimes I'm better at breaking things than I am at fixing them, but your success inspires me!
