Hi,I just acquired the above captioned mug and I was wondering if anyone else on the message board had one and could explain the function of the lower drawer and where the shaving soap resides.

I'm not familiar with this item at all, but im guessing you keep the soap in the drawer in between shaves. Alternatively, I guess you could use it as a scuttle by filling the drawer with warm water, but if the inside is square like the outside I can't imagine it was intended for lathering in.

Temjeito,the more I study this shaving cup and look for soap residue etc in the main body the more I tend to agree with you.The lower drawer has seen use but no residue of any kind and the main body interior is dirty but "clean".I will see if Tufts had a catalog and this Shaving Cup may have been part of a set and was used to hold a brush and/or or items.
