"J" Type Schick Injectors - Advice Needed

I recently acquired a Schick Golden 500 J3 type injector in very very good condition. I have some Ted Pella blades to go with it, which the seller was nice enough to sell me with the razor. My questions about this razor are:

1. What is the best technique to use with this razor? Steep angle, shallow angle?
2. How does shaving with it differ from a DE razor? I assume multiple passes like the DE are still part of the process.
3. I figured out how to load the blade with the "key" and slide the new blade in. Is that all there is to it? My razor has
some sort of lever or latch on the bottom that says "close to change blades", but this lever really doesn't move, lift,
slide or do anything else. (Oopps, just figured the lever out. I was afraid to pull on it too hard, but it loosens the
heads grip on the blade. That mystery is solved.

Is there anything else I need to know about an injector? I am a complete babe in the woods with an injector, so anything that will help would be greatly appreciate.

Mods, I wasn't quite sure where to put this thread. If it's in the wrong place just let me know and let me know where the heck you move it, so I can find it.

Thanks everyone.

1. The angle is pretty much built into the razor, hold it flat to your face and slightly raise the top, similar to a Cart or Disposable.

2. Yes, though the smaller injector head makes it easier under the nose.

3. Keep the lever closed; when inserting/removing the blade & during the shave. Disengage when you want to thoroughly clean your razor.

Nothing special to know except Injectors are the Sports Car of Single Edge Razors, relax and enjoy the shave.

+1 to what mftoms59 wrote. You have a fine Schick, enjoy it. I do a a 4 pass shave most of the time. Big benefit is it;s very effective yet mild like a slant. Weepers, nicks, cuts? Almost(ymmv) impossible to do . A very enjoyable shave!

Hmm, I just missed one of these on BST recently.... Did you beat me to it? ;)

Hope you enjoy it, that's a nice looking razor.

Please let us know how you like it, I'm still looking to track one down.

Thanks guys. I've been very curious about injectors for some time now and found a good deal on the J type. jdkdonk, I'm afraid it may have been me that beat you to it on the BST. About 10 days ago or so.

I'll give it a test drive later this week. There wasn't a blade in it when I got it of course. I put a new blade in and then I read that when you put a new blade in an empty injector it can damage the blade. It's meant to replace a blade that's already in there. So, I slid another blade in and binned the first blade. Hope I didn't waste a good blade.

I have no idea which type injector is a good one and which ones are duds. I'm glad you've said I ended up with a good one. Maybe I got lucky.

Thanks again for the info. I'll pop back in once I shave with it.
