Ivory Handle???

I have a close friend who would like a real ivory handle DE razor. I am completely stumped. I know there are a ton of restrictions on ivory but there are exception based on how the ivory is sourced. Anyone have any suggests of where a true ivory handle DE could be found?

I believe the one legit, legal source for ivory these days is mammoth ivory mined from frozen carcasses in the Arctic.

I believe that ivory legimately purchased before the ban went into effect can still be sold. Assuming you cannot find a pre-ban ivory razor handle, perhaps one could find a pre-ban piece of ivory that could be turned to produce a razor handle, given that you could also find someone who can turn ivory. Good luck, John

While in Hong Kong many years ago, one could buy ivory cigarette holders. While hollow, maybe you could find one somewhere - antique store, junk store, ebay. Or just search on the internet for antique ivory.

Lo and behold! Just typed in "antique ivory" on search page and found one on the first page!! If you want to spend $99 for that one!

I believe there is a guy somewhere near springfield MO who makes gun grips. I know he purchased a portion of mammoth Ivory from Siberia a few years ago, and was making revolver grips out of it. I couldn't find his web site when i quickly searched, but I know he has one. He might be able to hook you up.

I have Mammoth Ivory, and fossil Walrus Ivory.I use it for knife handles.I might be persuaded to sell a piece.I can also make a razor handle.

That is a wicked idea. I believe the fossilized mammoth or walrus ivory would not only look nice, it would provide an interesting piece of conversation if anybody happens across it in his restroom.

Fixed again. Remember, we're talking about fossilized mammoth here.
