Italian vs Spanish Floid

I'm traveling to Europe in September and facing a terrible dilemma: do I buy the Italian or Spanish Floid? You see, I am going to both countries and SWMBO will only let me bring back one large AS bottle. Any advice?

And while we're at it, do I buy the classic (orange) or blue? Tough choice...

Marco's review was pretty much spot on, although i will add that i found both Italian floids (especially the blue) to very long lasting (12 hours) and fairly strong.

Floid Original has surprisingly become my favorite (I'm not usually into the "powdery" fragrances,) on the review it was described as being "powdery anise" and i agree.

Buy the Italian Floid. Then, right before you leave, order Spanish Floid from vintagescent. It will arrive shortly after you get home and you can do your own comparison.

By the way, I use the Spanish Floid a few times a week (I alternate with AI and plain witch hazel) and I really like it. I've yet to try Italian Floid.

I have yet to try the Spanish Floid but have tried both the Italian versions and agree with Johnnie and Marco. My suggestion goes toward the above.

Well, after reading Marco's review...I went ahead and picked up a bottle of the Blue as well as a bottle of Vigoroso...both arrived a couple of days ago and I tried them both back to back...

The Blue is significantly milder with a lower menthol content and (to me) a more modern, younger smell...the wife really liked it, a rare occurence :)

The Vigoroso is more traditional with a powdery barber-shop like smell...the burn is just plain insane and I must admit I prefer this to the Blue based on a single use...

I'm very glad I went with the Floids...and see myself using them regularly. Have never been the sort to splurge on after-shaves and have used Old Spice, BRUT and Aqua Velva exclusively for many many years...the Floids are now here to stay and I will not be replenishing my current bottle of BRUT or AV Balm.

Thanks Marco!

I'm glad to see that the Italian Floid has so many fans now! It's simply the most traditional, classic, Old School aftershave we have in Italy. For a true barbershop post shave treatment.:thumbup1:

I have a big bottle of Spanish Floid. I must say that the smell is a bit too strong for me & makes me fellate my asthma inhaler passionately. I'm not saying it smells bad....it's just that strong smells & me are like superman and kryptonite.

I will be trying the Italian Floids soon.

Marco, you haven't written a review of the classic Italian Floid. Is there one coming? I know you like the blue. Is the other Floid getting no love?

The Genuine Floid (yellow bottle) you are talking about is exactly the same as the Blue and performs equally well. The only real difference is the scent: "powdery" musk on The Genuine, mentholated on the Blue. Therefore I suppose there is no need to write another review, since I already wrote one about the Blue, which is my favourite between the two. Divorce? Just a thought :tongue_sm.

Decants of both Italian Floid's are high up on my acquisition list. Just waiting for a certain vendor to get Alt Innsbruck back in stock to round out the order.

I never used Spanish Floid but always the blue and classic italian Floid and I agreed with Marco's review and opinion about the differences between the two after shave.
Blue Floid seems to be younger and fresh than his classic brother.

I bought "orange" Floid for the second time one year ago, after I duscovered my passion for the wet shaving.
I remember my father bought a bottle of it many years ago, let's say twenty, in the barber shop we usually went.
Twenty years after, I re-discovered the smell, the fragrance of this product and many memories came back in my mind, many memories.. :cryin:

Is it technically bringing it back if you ship it to yourself? :D

When in Europe, I either go with Malta Milk AS or Luxenburg Luxe As balm. There is less chance to offend when you buy the stuff from the small countries. I don't want an argument over Spanish or Italian Floid to cause a diplomatic row.

No diplomatic rows here either. I may have to get both....

Thanks for the advice, gentlemen; I am flying tomorrow. Will update this thread with a verdict upon return.
