About 3 weeks back, my 16 y.o son got a skin infection on his chin and spent a week in the hospital on antibiotics. He's been home for about a week and a half or 2, and the infection is totally cleared up, thank goodness. Just a small scab at this point. He has healed nicely.
However, he was in need of a shave before the infection happened, and the doctors told him to hold off until he was healed before taking razor to face. This afternoon, I took a look at his wound, pronounced it almost entirely healed and likely safe to shave, taking a VERY light hand or avoiding the direct wound area.
He did a fist-pump when I said that, and ran upstairs to the shave den. Water runs for a few minutes, then he comes back downstairs, looking pleased. I ask him "Feel better?" His response: "Oh, yeah! I never looked forward to shaving before!"
For once he understands the good feeling of a satisfying shave! Now to get him off of the goo and disposables. One step at a time.
(Side note: MRSA is a *****, and this was his second bout with it this year. But at least we know what to be on the look out for and how to deal with it.)
