What's new

It Just arrived

Well, I fanally made my decision and just got my gear in the mail
DOVO Silver Steel
Rooney Brush
Strop not pictured
And my first Shave soaps
I got two because I wasn't sure what to get.
Got the No. 88 because it peaked my interst, and the Harris Marlborough because my wife said it sounded interesting. After doing so, I happened upon a Barber shop in town that I didn't know existed. Guess what they had, Safety Razors and Soaps and such. One thing I found interesting was "The Art Of Shaving" Brand. Very much liked the smell of the Aftershave Balm "Sandalwood". My wife likes the smell of the Sandalwood also, may go with it next. Anyways, heres a picture.

Up to a good start!

make sure the razor is sharp. start looking for your honing stones and strop.

Welcome to the dark side!

Well I finally had time to have my first shave with straight razor. Last couple of nights I haven't even had the time to shave even with disposable. I still did a rush job, which is why I believe I ended with a little burn (Too many go overs to get all hair).
It wasn't as bad as I thought once I understood how the blade moved across, I used dominate hand on both sides because my left wasn't too steady. The hard part was the three day growth. Definately something to do daily, unless there is something to do for that stubborn tough growth. Anyways, was very satisfying and not too many nicks. The stypic pen is definately worth it. Well here it is.

partly my fault, not sure if it the honing part, came to me from Vintageblades, so should be honed. But as I said, my hairs are a lil tough and had a few days growth on it, I think i should have shaved regular today then started my blade tomorrow.
