Maybe I’m missing something, but why are you asking for help about anxiety, mental illness and how to comb your hair in a forum that’s dedicated to shaving?

People discuss a lot of things on here that is not directly related to shaving. Look around, you'll find plenty.

I’ve been a member since 2009, I’m well aware of all of the forums and sub-forums at B&B. Just trying to figure out why he wants to discuss his mental issues and how to comb his hair in a shaving forum.

Why does he want to discuss his mental health issues? Because he has them. A quick search brings up many threads talking about mental health.

I took the time to read every page of the ones below, not one in any of the threads say people should not be talking about mental health on Badger and Blade. There are at least fifteen pages of responses.

Please note, these threads prove that many, many people are talking about mental health here on Badger and Blade. There are a lot of contributions from lots of brave people. Just pages upon pages of compassionate and respectful posts which are both the norm and expectation at this site. Feel free to read for yourself. This was a simple subject search on two search terms, I am sure if I had the time and expanded it I would find many more.

I'll resist the urge to search and post threads related to combing and styling hair as there would be too many to count.

All of this being said, the thread should be labeled more appropriately for those not wanting to engage the material as it seems that is still an issue. A separate thread should have been created and posted in "the Barbershop" forum, as that is for General Discussion and where all the above examples come from.

The most important point is this. Having the courage to talk about mental health is a critical step that helps people have more agency and ownership of their mental health challenges, but many times they are scared of people's responses. Lucky for people suffering these challenges, most of their posts on this site and disclosures to friends are well received the vast majority of the time. Hopefully, OP will have the courage to create an appropriately titled thread or talk again as it is a critical step in them getting to live their best life, and really that is what all of us want.

All the best. JM

The examples you cited are clearly different than this thread because they were were started by established members. I’m just curious why someone would join a message board on Christmas day that is dedicated primarily to discuss shaving with the sole purpose of telling random strangers on the internet that you suffer from anxiety and you don’t like how your hair looks.

All the compassion and good intentions of strangers on the internet is not a substitute for seeking assistance from trained, qualified professionals for a mental health issue. And if you don’t like how your hair looks why not just go to a good barber or hair stylist?

Which doesn’t negate the fact that it’s better to get professional help for something this serious than relying on random strangers on an internet message board.

The OP is, I believe, dealing with a mental health issue. The only thing we can recommend is he seek the advice of a medical professional of his choice. We can be compassionate towards him, but B&B is not the place to give medical advice.

Arguments on such will only serve to sow discourse, which I'm sure the OP isn't interested in.

To the OP, please seek help. I have much knowledge in this area. You will not be looked down upon or judged for having anxiety. Medical professionals want to help you. I believe, in my heart of hearts, once you have spent time getting mentally healthy, you will be able to relax about your hair.

I think you might have some comprehension problems. In the original post there's no mention of my anxiety problems, it was a topic that came up in a reply, and then someone asked me about it, so I just answered (I did think I should not get into that problem, but he really seemed concerned about it. My bad, you're right about it, truly.) I didn't ask for help with other problems, because I'm not that stupid not to know that this is not the place, and that comments like yours are what I should expect. I thought someone might know about hair growth, or a better way of getting a closer shave, or whatever. Just had to try to ask and see whether I obtain some useful information, despite my reluctance to do it. But fear not, I won't force you to hear my rumbling anymore. Next time just ask for this kind of posts to be deleted, it's that easy and takes less time. Have a great day.
