Is this razor broken?

I'm a bit embarrassed to ask as I think my general knowledge at this point should know better, but is this razor in more pieces than normal? I am certain the outer barrel should be connected to the bottom plate, and that the "neck" has separated from the outer barrel... nevertheless, I ask here to confirm my suspicions. Its gorgeous either way. Thanks B&B!

Looks like a normal 4-piece to me. The knurled "outer tube" goes over the smooth "inner tube." Both then screw into the bottom plate after the head piece has been inserted.

Yup. Except normally the main handle is press fit into the bottom plate.

This is what I meant. Similar to a Single Ring, correct? Shouldn't the outer sleeve on the bottom left be connected to the bottom plate, so it would be sticking straight up in the air in this picture?

Yes, that's a three piece (that's converted itself to four ). No big deal, as the nut screws to the cap holding it all together (unlike the pocket styles, where when the tube cracks and the end becomes loose, the head can fall off).

The handle tube probably has a crack in it. Cleaning one of mine yesterday, I found it separated and looking, discovered a crack I hadn't noticed. If it really bothers you, you can epoxy the two pieces together. Make sure the patent information is at the end away from the head.

BTW, is that a Big Fellow? Sure looks like one to me (New Improved version).

It is definitely not supposed to come apart like that. I have a single ring that does this and there is no crack at all. The parts were just made incorrectly.
