is it ok to break in a brush on cement floor?

As I understand it, it's more of the hair swelling as it absorbs water and contracting as it dries that splits the bristles than physical abuse.

I actually don't understand why people want to speed up "breaking in" their brushes...

Yeah, what he said. Just normal usage is fine. Why wear it out? These things cost enough as it is!
 
it took me a good month to break in my Rooney.
But it was worth the wait.
When I bring it near the cream it explodes in lather :w00t:

Thats not photoshopped. It was something advertised on ebay as being an antique, and in good condition.. ROFL
