is it ok to break in a brush on cement floor?

As I understand it, it's more of the hair swelling as it absorbs water and contracting as it dries that splits the bristles than physical abuse.
Like hard-soled shoes, I'd rather break in a brush by using it.
I hear if you make a few gentle passes of the bristles over a flame, it softens them up exponentially.
Belt sander, I'm just sayin.
I actually don't understand why people want to speed up "breaking in" their brushes...

Yeah, what he said. Just normal usage is fine. Why wear it out? These things cost enough as it is!
it took me a good month to break in my Rooney.
But it was worth the wait.

So it was you who sold that brush on fleabay last month.
Please tell me that's Photoshopped.
Thats not photoshopped. It was something advertised on ebay as being an antique, and in good condition.. ROFL
Oh man, that's just painful.
My Eagle looked something like that but that was after 30 years of almost daily use! 
I've never seen a need to "break-in" any brush (silvertip anyway).
only if the floor is in the 15-18k range
