Is it a #16 or a #66?

I thought the 16 had a flat base plate under the head and the 66 a plate like the one here. So did I get a mismatched set? What makes me unsure is that there are no patent numbers and save for the outer box, both the razor and case are in similar (stunning) condition. I know Gillette did mix razors and cases a bit but I'm uncertain with this one. So what do you guys think?

I think you're right - that's a #66. But a gorgeous one! That's the cleanest #16 case (inside at least) I've seen!

Since they look so similar, perhaps the seller had both a #66 and #16 and mixed up the razors!

I have the case for the gold one....but I have a 'regular' #16 as well This is your fault Christian! Since the #15 I can't get enough Brit Gillettes!!

I agree with you guys. I was a bit bummed when I saw that it was a 66. I was expecting a 16. So it goes with eBay auctions that have one less than great pic. Well at least it's in great shape and I now have a great case for my future #16!
