Interesting Gillette 'Milord'

So I've picked up this Milord, and a few things struck me as strange/odd. It has a nickle plated TTO knob, as well as nickle end caps. I'm wondering if this is due to repair/mismatched parts, or simply a unique-limited production of the Milord. Anybody ever seen anything like this? Also, how does the Milord shave? Is it pretty much the same as a 40's Super Speed, or are there any discernible differences in feel/aggression?

The Milord shaves the same as the '40s SuperSpeed.

I have TWO late '40s Aristocrats that have a similar plating treatment. Gold plated except the top of the center-bar and end caps, which are plated with bright nickle. They were actually plated this way and the visible nickle is NOT from the wearing of the gold plate at those locations.

I've heard of a couple of other 'crats plated like this, and it wouldn't surprise me that there are a few Milords like this as well. It appears that your razor is missing the end caps.

There is a 1940 Milord Tech that was made without the endcaps but I'm willing to bet those endcaps may have fallen off at some point. As for the TTO knob, does it appear that the gold plate has maybe worn off?

Oh no, this razor is minty, except for the endcaps possibly falling off like you pointed out. Might have been replated at one point, which would explain the great finish; and possibly had a repair while they were at it w/ the added 40's SS TTO knob added instead of a stock Milord knob. I'm hoping this is complete original stock w/ original case, as this would be such a unique find. Either way, I'm in love. Will probably just display it since it shaves like any other SS. Never knew they plated 'Crats like that, that's awesome. Would love to see some pics.
