Just got back from a local antique store. While there I saw a gold Valet razor for sale, but to me it didn't look like the photos of Auto Strops that I have seen. The head had been removed and the box it was in contained several Gillette Blue razor blades. I was tempted to buy it as it looked to be Mint or near mint, but I don't know anything about these. Was the Auto Strop the only razor Valet made, or were there others? Really I'm more curious than anything. I didn't see anything in the B&B wiki about Valet or the Auto Strop. Any help would be appreciated.

There were a bunch of models, but none of which could use a DE blade, as far as I know. All used a single edged blade, and the later models required blades with cutouts to allow them to work. With the first model you could use a GEM blade if you removed the rib on the back of the blade.
Not sure if a Valet handle would fit a Gillette head. Going to have to go downstair and see. I bought lots of them when I first got RAD and hoped to able to use them but never could get a valet blade sharp enough, even with a hone. Interesting design, though!
