What's new

In case you hadn't heard.

...Astras are wicked sharp. It's only a flesh wound! It looks worse than it is, really.

Otherwise, the shave was fantastic...DR Harris Lavender Cream, Astra blade in 1949 Gillette SS, Dickinson's Witch Hazel, Osage Rub (this stuff is really good), Cremo's Moisturizer.

Take your time next time :) Ive cut my lip once and it bled for an hour straight :crying:

Sometimes get a few nicks here or there :D

Don't we all do that? I do and then I'm careful for a while, then I for some reason I do it again. Masochism I guess or in my case stupidity. Take care Gene

Thanks, Al...I will. And I KNEW I would nick it just before I laid blade to neck...it was just a feeling.

I can feel that just from the picture. It's a real challeng sometimes to pay careful attention to each and every stroke, isn't it?

:death: happens.

I was shaving with a square point straight, nicked myself under my left ear and flinched. Got a nice long gash all the way across my neck. Talk about something looking nasty.... yuck. BUT... It didn't even leave a cool scar to brag about

You can mitigate nicks by stretching your skin where you are shaving

Bet it was a great conversation piece for a while, though! :)

I was just contemplating a nick on my ankle when I saw this thread. Am resisting the urge to start a "show us your blood and gore!" war-wounds thread. Might not sit well with more-squeamish members, lol. (Yes, I maybe am one sick puppy.)

I've only really cut myself bad once, and oddly enough, it was with a DE. I lost focus and turned my head when I heard a loud crash in the bedroom. Sliced myself good and it left a lovely DE blade sized scar on my cheek.

I've had the misfortune of not paying attention while removing my Astra blade from my EJ DE89L last week. The blade glue stuck to the razor, and while trying to pry it off with my fingers (dumb), it slipped. Just a 1/4 in gash to the middle finger, not too deep. I got lucky. I just had the reminder every day for a while when I bumped that finger. Now I keep a small piece of the pointed end of a wood skewer in my shave box for that purpose.

Did something like that once with my Fat Boy. It was one of those "note to self" moments as in "if you move the razor sideways it will cut your face."
