In the market for my first DE razor and noticed that IKON offers a five piece set with an 85mm bulldog handle, deluxe open base plate, standard closed safety bar base plate, dual sided OSS base plate, and a top cap. As a newbie this set concept appeals to me. In my mind it would give me some flexibility, allow me to try both OC's and CC's with (based on my interpretation of product reviews) low- to moderate aggression, and will last a lifetime with a low level of maintenance involved. There seems to be mixed opinion about the IKON owner and customer service but other than this, and the $199 price tag, what would be the down side?

No downside aside from the owners attitude. I don't find fault in his shave equipment however. Seems reasonably priced and they work well.
