What's new

****Ikon razors - your favorite model and WHY ?

I consider getting an Ikon razor as I have some cas$ to spend on shaving gear this month :w00t:

But I want a 100% stainless steel model and heard some of the models are only partly SS, which one is 110,99999999% stainless steel and do they all have that fake dreadful website store logo on the bottom of the head ?

I like medium to aggressive razors - hear all share the same hybrid now, open comb on one side, closed comb on the other side....true or false ?

Thanks in advance for any help, as always I HIGHLY appreciate your time and effort to help me :thumbup1:

I have the H20 and its a pretty good razor but the head is aluminum. Bit of a mild shaver needs a new blade to perform. I really like my Tradere solid stainless razor open comb both sides, nicely aggressive and very well made

I've had an OSS, have an S3S, and have an OC Bulldog on the way. The S3S is 100 percent stainless steel and is a great razor which is just a tick below medium aggressive. The OC Bulldog is open comb on both sides and the Modern is closed comb on both sides, but both of those are out of production and shavers tend to hold onto them. Most have the website under the bottom of the head, but most all razors have a logo somewhere on them. There are three razors that will never leave my den. A Weber ARC, an iKon S3S, and my Tradere. I'm a big believer in the weight, fit, and finish of stainless steel razors.

I'm with Dave. I have all 3, and always will.

If you like medium/aggressive razors, I suggest trying an Edwin Jagger DE89 on that handle, I tried mine on it while waiting for my newly replated NEW long comb to arrive. It's a great combination. The extra handle weight really turns the head into a power tool.

I like the design of the H20 with the asymmetrical head, but I don't own one. They are priced out of reach for me, and I rarely see one on the BST, which tells me that present owners are happy with it.

I don't understand why more manufacturers don't produce this design. It just makes a lot of sense to have two different heads on one razor.

If you didn't like the feather as d1 then I'd stay away Fromm the OSS(from what i hear). I can't really recommend any of the ikon as I haven't tried them yet but I highly recommend traderes open comb razor.

It's a tie for me between a 2-piece Modern and a S3S with an OSS handle.

I prefer using longer handles with my two S3S's and the OSS handle is one of the best (if not the best) handle I've ever used and works very, very well with the S3S.

The Modern is a very well balanced razor and is an absolute joy to use.

The Modern is next on my must find list.

So they only have that hybrid head available - then I'll pass on the Ikons and just get a Bulldog handle and a stand and then use my R41 head with this combo and be a happy shaver for now......until my Bulbous Lined, Chatsworth Barley and Stylo Thuja wood arrives next week :w00t:

I bought the Weber, Feather, and Ikon OSS all at the same time. The Feather was simply too mild and I sold it. For me the OSS was actually a tad more aggressive and a closer shave than the Weber. Also I agree with the above post that the OSS is the best handle I've ever used and that is what really sold me on the razor. It was a close call, but I sold my Weber because I wasn't keen on the ARC classic handle. I'll probably buy the ARC bulldog Weber when they come back and use the handle for my R41 and the ARC head periodically on the OSS handle to add some variation. The Weber ARC head and OSS handle have a very similar finish, and look great together.

CHSeifert: you just bought three wonderful razors. I have all three and my lined Bulbous and Chatsworth Barley are two of the stars of my collection. I really like the looks of the Stylo as well. I know you will be very happy with them.

Personally, I just bought an Ikon S3S. I had an OSS that was just too mild for me. I should receive it early next week. I have my fingers crossed...

I think you'll be pleased. I had an OSS and the extra weight of the S3S made it just a bit more aggressive which was perfect.

For me it's a tie, OSS/S3S.

Best thing about the OSS is you can just pick it up and it's more conventional shape just works.

The weight of the s3s makes it a brilliant shaver. The head takes a bit of getting used to but after a few strokes you get the hang of it. Nice and close shave.

+1 I totally agree with this statement. I keep reaching for the OSS handle all the time and use it with various razor heads.

The OSS handle you refer to is just what is also referred to as the Bulldog handle right ?
It's not the bamboo handle, right ?
