If only 1 soap stick

I've thought I would use mainly creams when I started down this wet shaving path but am becoming a soap convert, thank God I only got one cream. I need a stick for travel as we car camp a lot and going to use a DE when camping. Just finished reading the favorite stick thread and wondering If I only get one stick for my kit, is there one whose performance and scent I won't tire of ? I was thinking of Tabac but don't know if I'll like the scent and can't find anyplace that carries it so I can check it out so I have to go on word of mouth.

Palmolive classic soap stick is an easy fresh clean soapy scent. Cheap too. Plus made from tallow.

mikes naturals makes his soap in a stick form so if u like his stuff get one of those.

Most major online retailers carry the Tabac stick. If I had to only choose one though my choice would be La Toja. Fantastic performance and scent.

Since you're unsure of the scent go with Palmolive, a great performer at a reasonable price & the scent isn't as strong as Tabac, which would be my first choice.

I'll throw another vote out there for the Palmolive stick. Just a clean, fresh, subtle scent to my nose. I never get tired of it, and the lather is top notch.

I love Palmolive, Speick, and La Toja. I think I enjoy them all equally. I'd give the edge to Speick and Palmolive because of the scent and moisturizing properties. La Toja is great if you're looking for a lighter scent, and still produces that gooey lather.

I just got back from a 10 day vacation and from now on La Toja will be the only soap that travels with me.

I travel a decent bit and have a few, here in my preferred order: Mike's, Speick, Palmolive, La Toja. The La Toja is in a small Dopp kit in my truck for unplanned overnights. I'm not a huge fan of e La Toja, especially compared to the others.

The Speick and Palmolive were pressed into these. Worth every penny, since they come without a cap, just heavy foil and a base. You could pretty much press any soap into one for travel. My Mike's stick comes in a similar twist up, except it's white, not clear.

Also I've been making my own shave sticks using the containers from WCS. I simply press soft soaps into the containers, and grate harder ones.

I've made shave sticks out of RazoRock XX, RazoRock Lavendar, Institute Karite, Pre De Provence, and Strop Shoppe Baker Street. I find myself using the last two most frequently.

I use Palmolive at home, but in my travel kit I have a stick of DR Haris Arlington. A great performer, and has its own plastic tube.

If it were me, I would choose a Valobra shave stick. It provides some excellent lather, and its scent is clean and soapy, so it doesn't interfere with whatever aftershave you choose to use. The one issue is that it doesn't come with its own container, but you could use an empty pill bottle.

One stick? Vergulde Hand, definitely. Beats the Palmolive sticks for me (I never tried Tabac or La Toja).

But as in all things related to shaving, YMMV :wink2:
