What's new

I want Leather!

I am looking for a Cologne and/or aftershave that smells like a Fresh Western Saddle, sitting on the Saddlery Shelves. I've used the Dana "English Leather" cologne, and though I do like this very much, It just doesn't smell like Real Leather...:glare:

I've been Riding western and dressage since I was 9 years old, and I'm currently working in another equestrian center, So I Know what Real Leather smells like. I work with it every day.:thumbup1:
(and I'm an Avid Motorcyclist, So I wear leather when riding, too)

Does anyone Know of a cologne that actually smells like Real Leather? I've been searching diligently!

How long do their colognes last? I have a tendency to decimate the smell of a cologne in an hour unless it is very strong. Do their scents smell authentic?

Jonas
Can't speak for the cologne but I've tried the aftershave. Doesn't last long but it's an aftershave after all. I didn't really expect it to. The scents are synthetic, I'm sure but it smelled pretty close to my nose.

Have you tried Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve?

It is leathery and not sweet/cloying as English Leather can become, yet may not be the exact leather scent you're looking. However, for the price, is it worth testing.

Creed Royal English leather is tops for me. Creamy and recognizable quality.
But a more mature scent.

Knize 10 is a good one. But it's a bit more "blunt" about being leather, less "saddle" and more "whips."

Tauer's Lonestar Memories might be worth a sample. Kind of has a cowboy at a BBQ vibe.

K10 definitely doesn't have any leather notes but as always YMMV:biggrin1:

Creed's REL gives me notes of citrus and for a leather scent it is poor IMO but it is a nice product because it reminds me of my wifes Lady Knize. I use REL but very light.

I've always been a fan of English Leather personally but I've heard good things about Trumpers Spanish Leather.

One of the purest leather scents I've smelled was Helmut Lang's Cuiron, it's a suede lined leather bag with crushed plums inside.

Get a sample of this and try it out. Don't think you'll be disappointed.

No disrespect to Mark, whose tastes and collection cause me much envy, but I got some of the TSD leather and it struck me as Old Musty Leather Shoe---some TSD scents are pretty good, but I didn't think this was a winner.

+1. When you find it--if you can find it--it might cost the same as a car payment, but I can understand the popularity of this one. I bought a decant on b/s/t and it is good stuff.

Ok, I've been looking through some websites and checking reviews, and I think that the cologne closest (or just what) I'm looking for is Tom Ford's Tuscan Leather. I'll see if I can pick up some sample vials.

If anyone knows where to get some sample vials, let me know!:thumbup1:

Thanks for the info guys!

Check with Muddasir on BaseNotes and/or The Crystal Flacon. He's a great seller and had 4ml bottles of the TL (that's where I got mine). He has a huge list of scents that he'll decant.
