Hello everybody. I tried a new shaving technique this past week and it worked great for me, just wanted to share this. My situation is the jawline and neck down grows from left ear to right ear, almost flat sideways. I always had a hard time getting bbs on neck. I did many times but a little too inconsistent. WHat I do now is I shave jawline up first completely 3 passes. XTG XTG ATG. I washed off and dried my face that was shaved. Then I wet the neck and lather the neck on down. Now I have a dry upper face to do some major stretching. I pull my skin up real tight , that raises the stubble and atg 2 passes bbs. No irritation from too many passes and bbs SMOOTH! I guess it took me this long to know my face and to experiment enough to find out what works for me. YMMV obviously but this is like a breakthrough to me. I want to thank all you guys for being generous enough with great advice. I used various straight(30 or so looking for the perfect one) from extra hollow to fullwedge. From 4/8 to 8/8. I used to think the wedges were the only ones for mebut I shaved this week with extra hollow, full wedge, 6/8 and 4/8. Same result. I hone for myself, various discussions about it here. I have all the hones, 220/1k, 4/8 norton, 12k naniwa, crox balsa, al/ox and diamond lapping film and pasted strops, as well as 2 hanging and 1 paddle strop. The lapping film is notnecesary. i always thought the razor needed more sharpness, even though it passed hht after 4k. Let it work for you guys Techniques are more important than the absolute sharpest you can possibly make a razor. So save some money guys. Sorry if Im ranting too much. Butit all finally fell in to place for me and Im a happy man. Thanks for listening.
