I Have a Date With Mitchell Leather

The story is simple:

I need a new wallet
I live in Milwaukee
I have never been to Mitchell Leather (shame on me)
Dave is a nice guy
He is making a bifold wallet that is not yet on his website
He can make it in CXL or cordovan
I am going to meet him on Saturday
He will make me a wallet.
The end :)

Not sure just yet, I want to see the ones he has and the golden wheat CXL is beautiful...but I like the idea of cordovan too. All depends on what he has in stock.

Today was a good day. I met Dave this afternoon and we got to talking to the point where he took me on a tour of the shop and even fired up some of the machines to show how the leather goods were produced (the 18 ton press was pretty damn cool). He showed me all of the shells he had; lots of blacks and burgundy but a few naturals, walnuts, and cognacs which were beautiful. The coolest piece of shell was a tumbled #8. Interestingly, Dave said the shells have been harder to come by in recent months which is why the non black and burgundy colors were double the cost. He also said Horween has addressed the supply issue so there will more coming. With that in mind he told me to wait on the bifold since it would cost me an arm and a leg.

I could not leave without SOMETHING so I purchased one of their money clip wallets. Mine is black shell on the exterior and golden wheat cxl on the inside with contrast stitching.

All in all, this was an awesome visit, and like I said before, I cannot believe it took me this long to visit this Milwaukee gem.

Best wallet there is. I really love the money clip. I have been there several times to repurchase the wallet for gifts. One of these days I will break down and get a briefcase!! Truly one of Milwaukee's gems not to be missed.
