Hydro Magic Injector question

Hi, I have got this hydro magic injector and want to know how to use that hydro magic lever? and of course I don't know what is the use of that lever? :)

Just pull it away from the handle (hinges at the head end)

This drops the safety bar but keeps the blade in the head held by the 2 pins through the holes in the blade.

Makes for easy cleaning of the razor/blade as the blade is floating between the top and bottom of the head

Yeah, it will look like the head has sort of fallen apart and is loose, but its a really nice feature to rinse off the blade after shaving.

But is the Hydro-Magic feature really useful, or was it just a gimmick to sell a few razors? It only lasted on the market for a very few years.

The reason I pose this question is that I have never had a Schick Injector that wouldn't rinse clean and satifactory under a stream of water after having a shave. And I find my Injector blades to last longer than DE or other SE blades, without using the lever.

Isn't manipulating the lever more "work" than just rinsing the blade under water?

I view it as an interesting but an unnecessary feature, but I'm willing to consider other points of view.[/SIZE]

Definitely YMMV here. My HydroMagics are MUCH easier to clean than my other injectors. Not much work in popping a lever open to loosen the blade and then run under water before closing the lever. My regular injectors won't usually come clean to my satisfaction under just a stream of water. That being said, I myself wondered why the lever didn't remain. Maybe it cost more to produce the lever so in the interest of more profit, they went back to how it used to be. Just my thoughts though. If it works for you, great!
