Humidor

A long time ago I purchased 2 humidors both lasted awhile but ended up to be junk, now I'm actually doing my research and was currious what were the top three greatest brands for Humidors that has different sizes and prices that you have come across in your life?

That's a tough one, as branding in humidors is often not indicative of manufacturer. Unless you get into handmade models made by a craftsman, they will almost all be a veneer over some other type of mdf-type wood.

There are definitely quality differences on the low end, but a lot of the others are virtually indistinguishable from each other.

To nail down one particular mass-market brand that seems to be very reliable, I would say Savoy, but I would also caution that the above still holds true in my experience. My Savoys feature the same construction as my others that sell for less.

hmm interesting, so what kind of woods make better humidors?
Are all wood or half wood half glass better or work just the same?
Does it matter having the hygrometer on the inside or outside?
if the humidor comes with only a hygrometer is it ok to put your own humidifying attachment inside or is it better to humidify the humidor each time with those prepackaged plastic humidifier pouche

Cedar is preferred inside, outside to the preference in your drawing room. Or, if you are half/half, one Diamond Crown Humi, paired with a "coolidor", a cooler with humidification beads

and would you put a continuous humidifying (setup/agent) inside or would you use one of those plastic prepackaged humidifiers or humidifying beads?

I have used the beads to good result, inside both, actually three when I had a humi at work

looks like Its hard to mess this up I'll do more research and post a few that I find. The builder in me wants to make his own!

If you want to waste money buy the humis from the online cigar shops, better off with tuperware & something wet

I've actually had very good luck with those that I have purchased from Cigars International. They aren't any different than one that could be found in any B&M tobacconist's shop.

Good sealing cigar boxes, coolers, tupperware, or wine fridges all make really good humidors. If I had to do it all over again, I'd definitely go with a coolerdor with spanish cedar cigar boxes in it.

And beads. Definitely beads no matter what you decide for the box.

Nope from now on with me its all about the hardest working which usually means most coin, I'm tired of having things that fall apart.

if coin is not a limitation you should go 100% custom if you are deadset on wood and doing it for a show piece too. if not set on wood best manufacturers are igloo and coleman!!

what material if im not set on wood? is it any worse or better? I dont want to start a bashing thread against non metals

Seems like you keep having problems with bad seals on humidors. Wood tends to bend and sometimes warp with moisture. A coolerdor (igloo or coleman) with a good seal won't ever go bad, and you can stick whole boxes of cigars in them. There's some other threads on coolerdors that you should really check out before going the traditional route.

Here, I found it for you:

There's lots of good ways to store your cigars, you just have to find the right way for you.

I saw that thread earlier I like the coolidor I just tend to use my cigars rather quickly im looking for something for longterm cigars I want to keep and dont want to smoke right away.
