What's new

how to mesure a knot?

do you mesure the dia.or circumferense of a knot to get the rite size for a restore,i looked in the wiki and didnt find any info on this mabey i looked in the wrong spot.ive found a reasonable replacement knot source, and want to restore my c-40 ever-ready w/a silvertip knot, all help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance:tongue_sm

And keep in mind they are not usually exact. You may have to tweek a little. I don't fool with that until the knot is in my hand. I usually open mine up wider anyway.

thanks,i iwll post photos when its done, meanwhile heres a before shot:001_smile

That will clean up nicely and make a terrific brush.

Yep, a good cleaning/polishing and a new knot will fix that right up. Keep us posted on the progress and let us know if you have any questions as you go.

As far as measuring the hole, I picked up a super cheap ($2!) plastic vernier caliper at Harbor Freight Tools. Probably the best two bucks I've ever invested!

Lots of potential with that handle.

I use a clear plastic ruler that came with my kid's geometry kit (protractor, triangle, and compass).
