How to find Scotch Tastings and Events

Is there a website or something out there that will help me find Scotch and Whisky events? I would love to start to attend some however finding them is very hard. I've been e-mailing bars and trying to find websites with out much luck. I found 1 bar that does a tasting once a month however there must be more out there.

Is it that Whiskey/Scotch events are not common or am I going about this wrong?

I live in the Houston, Texas and will be traveling to Austin Texas more over the next year so events in either city would be great.

Search local area liquor stores, that's who holds them here.

I simply asked my local liqueur stores if they have any Scotch tastings. Two of the stores have open bottles for customers to taste. It is also a good way to find out who are the Scotch experts of the stores.

It really depends on the area. I know in Atlanta there's not a good central repository for that kind of information so I post events that I find out about on my website. I hear about them through a number of sources and contacts...bars, liqour stores, distributors, restaurants, representatives, and other friends in the industry.

I just googled scotch tatstings and houston and found this.

Too bad you do not live here in atlanta. There is one every month at a local place called JOEY D'S OAK ROOM. Cigars and scotch/whiskey. Great food too.

I saw those Meetup.com ones, the only issue is that the last whiskey tasting was in 2009 and no new ones planned.

I'll head around to a few local liqour stores and see what I can find out. I enjoy scotch tastings not just for the great scotch but the great people you meet.

Here in atlanta, all the better steak houses have them. Try at some of the local steakhouses near you.

The last one we were at, a husband and his wife got into a fight and she stood up and jack-slapped him hard. She went out, keyed his Porsche and just started walking down the street drunk as a skunk. Good times.
