I'm just curious as to how often everyone else here shaves. I usually do it ever 3 days or a little more, but I think I'd like to do it more often (Wow. Never thought I'd say that  :thumbup1:). However, last time I shaved two days in a row, the first day gave me a solid shave (damn fine, dare I say), but the day after was sloppy and left plenty of irritation. Needless to say, I was not pleased. So I'm thinking maybe I just got wreckless while shaving on day two. How often do the rest of you shave?

Oh, and I think my lather could use some improvement as well. I'm still working on it. I've been using Proraso shave soap (the one in the green dish/bowl). Tips?

I have a Gillette Superspeed. Not sure what year, but it's the black tip variety. Sometimes I wonder about the angle of the blade as well. Lately my shaves have been good for the most part, so maybe I'm getting better in that respect. What advantages do razors which expose more of the blade give to the user?

How can you tell if your beard/whiskers are more "tough" than the average? Is there some standard by which to measure such a thing, a process of some sort or some general guideline?

Also, I don't have a drip stand for my brush. What should I do, other than buy one (which isn't an option right now, sadly).

I'll probably think of my questions as I go on.

I'll go ahead and say every day but I skip around quite a bit. Days where I work long shifts I get one shave in before heading to the hospital then I might not shave again for 24+ hours due to still being on call. But on days where I work a short shift (only 12 hours....) I shave once in the afternoon before heading out and once again before going to be in the morning. So in average I put myself at once a day:001_unsur:crazy:

I wondered if any one here shaves twice a day. I thought of that just question just this morning. I shave every morning.

Every single day, Monday through Sunday, unless I'm too sick to get out of bed, and that is a mighty rare occasion.

Daily, Friday if I am going out I will do an additional XTG pass in the evening.

My skin has been better since shaving daily...

Just recently started to do it every day, but only WTG passes! Makes my skin look so much better! No irritation, and it looks decent aswell!

Want one for your razor as well?

I made a razor/brush stand for my brother where I had the hook for the razor on the opposite side as well but no pics. Basically the bend coming off the one side of the brush gets bent back again and I made the hook for it like that by putting a small "u" on the back side like the one on the front for the brush. I keep meaning to get some of that liquid plastic to coat the stand but haven't gotten around to it yet.

I'll probably think of my questions as I go on.

(1) Since you usually shave every few days, I would say that your skin wasn't used to two days in a row. It is still inflamed from the day before. It will get there...It's not just you getting used to this, your skin has to adjust too.

(2) I recommend bowl lathering at first...this way you can control the variables (water, creme/soap, etc...) a bit better. Pay particular attention to the amount of water added and how the froth behaves. It's an experiment 9easy one at that) to figure out. I have not used Proraso to tell you specifics though...sorry

(3) That is for sure...Your technique does improve exponentially with each shave.

(4) I wouldn't really worry about this factor...once your technique improves, the thickness and density of beard plays little role in your shaves.

(5) just shake your brush gently and dry it using a towel...hang it upside down (or right side up) in a good aerated place and start over the next day...It is nice to have a couple of brushes so you let them dry thoroughly in between uses
