It's been awhile since my last poll...

How many fountain pens do you currently have inked up? Please cast your vote. BTW, I currently have all 18 fountain pens inked up and ready to go.

since i was so early to the thread without a poll, ill say this. I usually only have one pen at a time inked.

I find that if I have more than a few inked up I will have them evaporate and make cleaning them more of a hassle. I dump and clean mine when I am done using them. This could be after a day, a few days or more than a week. There are a couple I just keep inked up all the time.

I normally have two pens inked and use both of the daily for various tasks. That being said I might have one for trying an ink and paper combo but not very often.

At one time, I had twenty-eight inked pens, which was ridiculous, and I steadily worked it downward.

Right now it's at five, and I don't plan to ink up another until one of them is empty. The current plan is not to let it get above six again; it doesn't seem likely that I'd want to drop below three. In that range, I don't think there's much chance of forgetting that I have something inked, and then finding that I've let the ink dry up in it.

Even with five pens, I still keep a spreadsheet of what ink is in what pen, and for the empty pens, what the last ink was that I used with it.

It's eight right now... which I've gotta cut in half soon.

1) Kaweco Sport (medium) with Kaweco Blue cartridge, which I just bought at the Baltimore Pen Show and is about to become my every day pocket pen
2) Labelle Chromatic (medium) with Aurora Blue, which I should probably clean out since I don't use it a lot right now
3) LAMY Vista (1.1 mm) with Iroshizuku Fuyu-syogun, which I use for fun in every day writing
4) Monteverde Invincia (fine) with Iroshishizuku Yama-budo, which I use when I need red/purple ink
5) Parker Super 21 (fine) with Iroshizuku Kon-peki, which I usually keep on me as an every day pen
6) Parker 45 (fine) with Noodler's Gruene Cactus Eel, which I inked up because I just got it at the Baltimore pen show
7) Pilot Vanishing Point (crisp italic) with Noodler's Apache Sunset, which I inked up because I just got it at the Baltimore pen show
8) Preppy eyedropper with Noodler's Heart of Darkness, which I keep on me so I can give it to someone if they ask to borrow a pen.

Is it more impressive that they all have different inks?

I'm currently at 2 inked pens:

Pelikan M205 with Sailor Blue Black nano
Sailor 1911 Standard with iroshizuku Tsuki-Yo

I happen to have eight, too.

Pilot VP - Iroshishizuku Asa-Gao

Parker 51 - Noodler's Bulletproof Black

Parker 21 Super - Noodler's Blue Black

Levenger True Writer w/ Signature Stub - Noodler's 54th Massachusetts

Kaigelu 356 - Vintage c. 1930s Waterman "Ideal" Blue-black

Pilot Metro - Parker Quink Blue-black

Lamy Safari Medium - Private Reserve Electric DC Blue

Esterbrook J w/ 2314F - Private Reserve American Blue

Office desk - Lamy safari with Red, blue, green, yellow (widest nib Lamy makes)... pen and ink same colors.
Jacket pocket, was just the Lamy Al-Star, but I recently added a black CP1 and will eventually retire the Al-Star back to the home desk when I get around to it.

Home desk, I'm still playing with the Ahab from time to time, and I have a couple of Benton Clay's cheapies available in black and blue.

Currently all six of my pens are inked:

Parker 51 with some unknown ink
Pilot 78G, fine nib, Noodler's Black
TWSBI Mini, EF, Bernanke Blue
Lamy Safari, EF, included cartridge
Pilot Metropolitan, M, Pilot Iroshishizuku Tsuki-Yo
B&B Essential (black?), needlepoint, included cartridge

I have at least two pens coming and am strongly leaning towards ordering a third. I will probably clear a couple of them and whittle the cartridge ones down before inking the ones I'm acquiring.

I have three inked up. I have one pen cleaned and ready for my new ink getting here (hopefully tomorrow morning!), so that should rise to four pens ready to go by tomorrow.
