Educate me on fountain pens. Some questions pls

Presuming a right handed writer: there are at least 3 keys facets to the FP experience.
1. The Pen
2. The Ink
3. The Paper

In the US, the paper almost universally sucks for fountain pens. The paper that sold by Japanese and European brands like:
Rhodia, Clarafontaine, Apica, Muraman, and even 'Black and Red" are night and day better for FP.

Most of the time an Extra Fine is most forgiving on marginal paper as it is not putting down as much ink to bleed, smear or feather relative to a wider nib which puts down more ink.

Write on!!!

I just wanted to say that Jinhao pens are very nice after you clean them!! At least mine. I gifted the F nib to a colleague and I really miss having a F nib pen.

You understand better the pens or anything else after spending time using them. As such it has been my situation.

I have a plan in mind now:

Buy a Chinesse pen that accepts Jowo unit. Probably get some Jowo Nibs to use them in the future.
Buy a western pen : Lamy Safari or Kaweco Sport

Dynamite plan.

I have both of your next perspective pens.

The Lamy Safari, particularly when mated with any brand of quality ink, simply works. I have taken to mating it with Lamy ink because the bottle shape allows maximum usage and it comes with an integrated roll of blotter paper to keep things neat. Its cartridge is proprietary and widely available.

The Kaweco Sport hits way above its weight, is pocket carry friendly and uses small std. international cartridges. They are available almost anywhere fountain pens/inks are sold.

If you made me pick on pen to the exclusion of all others given how well it writes, ease of refill etc., it would be a Lamy Safari.

Thank you for your feedback! Have you tried Lamy Safari with these compatible chinese nibs from WingSung 3008 by chance?

I know people that buy the Lamy ink and dimple bottle so that it can be refilled. The Lamy Green is a perfect color, bright and right.

The only, really only, issue I have with the Safari is that the design doesn't appeal to everyone, my daily user is currently the Lamy Logo.

I have not. I fully acknowledge JinHao and other Chinese pens often exceed the intersection of quality/performance and value.

RANT/RAMBLE FOLLOWS

Having said, that, I have made a conscious decision to not buy products made in China (PRC) when it is at all possible, even if that means spending more money i.e. 20-30 on a pen v 5-15 on a functional equivalent.

I fully acknowledge that goods made in China can be of superlative quality i.e. Apple Products Arcteryx Outdoor Gear etc.

I appreciate your point on Chinese products, you have an uphill battle, Chinese products dominate even when they have European or American labels.

Years ago, I felt the same way about Japan, I had to give up that struggle.

But I take my hat off to you, not many have the courage to support their convictions.

I don't want to discuss politics in details. Facts tell us that USA and China are very close business partners. America only on 2022 exported $153.8 billion, increasing by 1.2%.

Yesterday it was Japan, today is China. Tomorrow? India, Pakistan... Who knows...

Personally I want to enjoy pens.
